CHAPTER EIGHT

CHAPTER EIGHT

“Dwayne, Reysell… I'll see you both soon. I will just take a one-week break from our project and fly to Gothame to meet someone and to research about my other ongoing project.”

Waverly wrote on a sticky note and stick it on the front door of their laboratory, so they would notice it.

After the talk with witch doctor and her butler last night, she decided to go to Gothame, the biggest country in the world.

It was her and the late Queen Aretha's sanctuary place. She thought that maybe she needs to refresh her mind before proceeding to make her impossible chemical.

Aside from taking notes about the ingredients of the potion, she also started researching about the antidote that comes up with it.

The loud ringing of her phone startled her. Who would call me this early?

She took the phone out from her purse and looked at the caller. Amo annoying calling…

It's her butler again and yes, she saved him as annoying because Amo hated hearing that.

“Good morning to you too, Amo.” she said sarcastically.

“Yeah, good morning.” he mocked her, “The pilot rang me, you're going to Gothame?” he asked confused.

Waverly sighed and crossed her arms. “The pilot already told you, right? Why ask me again?” she said, clearly irritated.

“Take a chill pill, your highness. Meet me at the airport in two hours, I'll accompany you.”

“But I want—” before she can even finish her sentence, Amo already ended the call.

Waverly rolled her eyes and tossed her phone on the couch out of irritation. As much as she wants to be alone, she can't. She can never do that.

Amo needs to be around her, anytime and anywhere even though she can't really see him. He's like a shadow, he's always there.

Left with no choice, Waverly just sighed and continued to pack her things.

She looked at the mermaid dress in front of her. Waverly didn't know where this came from. She just saw it in front of her door, it was addressed to her.

There's no clue where it was from. The note that came with it even made her confused.

“Wear this when you came back to Gothame, Waverly. I would love to see this on you.”

What she said in the note about meeting someone is a joke but now, she may be really meet someone there.

She shook her head and put in on her luggage before zipping it and left and laboratory. When she arrived at the airport, she sat on the waiting area and wait for her butler to arrive. As she stared at the people passing by she can't help but to think about the sender of the dress.

“… Earth to your highness.”

Waverly blinked before looking at the owner of that voice. It was her butler. His eyebrows are furrowed while looking at her. In return, she raised her eyebrows at him. Her eyes are questioning him.

“What?” she hissed.

“I've been calling you for a minute now.” he said and sat beside her, “What are you thinking? You seem to dive the deepest thought you have, Duchess.” he pointed out.

Waverly turned to him. “Did you, perhaps made a schedule with someone? In Gothame?” she asked, curiosity is evident in her eyes.

Amo frowned at her. “Why would I do that without your permission?”

“You're right, you wouldn't do something without my permission. Don't mind me and forgot about what I just said.” she said and nodded her head.

“Alright. Let's go?” Amo said and took her luggage.

She stood up and fixed her dress. “Yeah, I feel it would be better not to delay our flight.”

The flight to Gothame was long that all Waverly did was to sleep. Amo felt relieved seeing her get some rest, he always watches her from afar. Some place near her where she couldn't spot him because she hated the feeling of having a bodyguard.

Amo checked his phone when it alerted him about an email. His forehead ceased when he opened the email. It was encrypted, he needed to decipher it first.

Sighing, Amo took his small notebook and pen out.

It took only a minute, and he already deciphered it. He immediately read the message.

“Bring the Duchess to Amelia's castle. Meet me there by dawn. We need to discuss an important manner regarding the war.”

Crown princess, Faina Sashenka Lubov Elin.

He can't believe what he just read that his jaw dropped in awe.

Faina Sashenka Lubov Elin is a good friend of Waverly. She was the Crown Princess of Val Cerde, one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

But the crown princess was abducted months ago that caused a storm in Val Cerde and even in their country, Moravia.

The Val Cerde is one of their most trusted allies that they can't afford to lose.

Amo walked towards his master's seat and gently tapped her shoulder to wake her up. Slowly, Waverly's eyes opened, and she looked up to him.

“What?” she asked in her husky voice.

Amo took her hand and placed the paper on her palm. “I believe you have to read this information, your highness.” he politely and bowed his head before leaving.

Confused, Waverly looked at her butler's retreating. What's up with him?

She shook her head and opened the letter he gave her. She gasped in awe. It's her best friend, Faina. Another royalty she treasures the most.

Waverly blinked as she realized something. The mermaid dress!

She stood up and checked her luggage. She took out the dress and inspected it. That's why this design looked so familiar!

Faina is an artist, she's a genius when it comes to art. She's not just excellent when it comes to canvas but also in dresses.

Waverly smiled and hugged the dress. She was worried sick when the news about Faina being abducted months ago. Now, she can finally see her again.
