Chapter Twenty

The glare of the sun hitting my blinds woke me. I rubbed my face and squinted as I fluttered my eyes open.

I took in a long deep breath as I stretched my limbs, loosening up tight muscles in them. I reached over to the nightstand to check the time and exhaled when I saw that it was almost 10am.

Rolling my hurting shoulders, I stood and sauntered to the en suite.

And as I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't help but question if that was really me. I had small dark circles around my eyes from not sleeping well for the last two days, the hair on my head was a forest as it shooted out from my head– scattered and messy.

The thoughts of my husband and memories of what he had done and said last night scarred my memory and I winced when his harsh– true- words played in my head.
