Chapter 36

Josephine climbed up the stairs with Lucas following behind and she pursed her lips before releasing it as a soft sigh escaped from her mouth. She felt Lucas words about him killing his father and burying him inside a cupboard, haunt her and now that she thinks of it, she regret ever asking him to tell her about his past.

As she got to the front of her room, she heard Lucas wish her, “Goodnight Josephine,” and her body went stiff for a second. Before Lucas would walk past her, she quickly stopped him by holding his cloth. When Lucas raised a brow at her, she gulped and asked, “Can you sleep in my room?”

Josephine was unsure if Lucas would agree to it but she had thought before asking that it was better to have him next to her than for her to be alone and be haunted by every single movement she hears. She saw Lucas brows furrow slightly and he said to her, “I will be right back.”
