Chapter 33

I couldn't take my eyes off Alvis and that woman as they waltzed around the floor. It set my teeth on edge, and the butterflies in my stomach had long since turned into vipers, striking at me.

More than anything else, I didn't want her around him, and I couldn't really figure out why. I needed to be with Adrian, it was important I stuck to the plan.

But why was it killing me so to do it? I'd already made my peace with not trying to get closer to Alvis. My revenge came first.

Or am I just lying to myself now?

"You look like you're thinking hard, Princess," mused a voice close to my ear.

Far too close.

I jerked away and stared at the man beside me. He was tall, towering over me, and there was a glint in his honey-caramel eyes. His raven black hair matched my own, and a smirk of confidence played on his lips. "Who are you?" I sputtered. I hadn't seen anyone like him before, not even at the competition.

"You can call me your Prince Charming if you like." He held a hand out to me.
