I took Kai out through a side door, making sure no one was following after us, and into the heart of the hedge maze in our gardens. It wasn't the most secure I could get, but it would do. Only someone determined to track me down would be able to find us here. "Okay, spit it out," I demanded, folding my arms over my chest.

Kai smirked at me. "You look like a frustrated little kitten ready to lash out at me with those claws of yours. Are you going to give me my reward now?"

I growled in the back of my throat at him. "No, you're going to answer some questions for me." I held up a finger. "First, who are you really? You smell strange."
