Owen What did I just hear? No. There's no way. They were lying. Both of them! They had to be. Betty was.... Betty was! She just wasn't that kind of woman. I turned away from the closed doors. If I hadn't been straining my ears so hard, I wouldn't have caught the soft admittance. Was this what that Kai guy meant when he told me to stay close after I was kicked out? I'd been so sure that Adrian was going to kick his ass, but that hadn't happened. I wasn't about to stay here. Whatever was going on with those two, I didn't care anymore. I needed to get out of there, and back to Betty's side. I had to talk to her. If I saw her, I'd know it was all lies. There was no way she was mated to Adrian. That was impossible. The trees blurred around me as I ran away from Adrian's house. I just had to get to her again. The rocks crunched beneath my feet as I flew down the pathway and the twigs snapped as I forced my way through the forest. Betty. There, in the distance, I spotted her h
Lindsey What am I doing here? I kept asking myself this question over and over again my mind as I stared at Kai's grinning face. He looked like an actual devil smiling like that. So cunning. So sinister. Last night, I tried to find more things about him but to no avail. My parents were no help and looked at me like I was crazy. They simply brushed me off! "Nothing to say?" I snapped back to reality and looked at Kai. "Why are we here, Kai?" He tilts his brow. "What do you mean, Lindsey? We are on a date, so I thought we could have a lovely dinner by the lake." "Don't act coy. You know exactly what I'm asking you. Why are you making me go out on a date with you?" Kai's lips twisted into a small smile. "I am not making you do anything, pet. You are here at your own will." I leaned back into my chair and sighed. We are going on a circle here. "You know what I mean. I am here because you said you could help me, but why do we have to go on a date?" Kai shrugged. "Why not? This
AlvisAnger stirred within me as I watched them walking out together. He had his filthy hand on her waist, but she did not try pushing him off. What was happening between them, and how come I'd never seen him before? There was something strange about him too, something dark. He smelled like a werewolf, yet different from all of us. A special kind of breed? I needed to know more.I watched them on their date at the restaurant and noticed something strange. Lindsey was sitting in front of Kai with her eyes closed, not moving a muscle. It worried me because she looked completely out of it, as if she was in some kind of trance.Part of me wanted to walk over there and interrupt as Lindsey looked pale and ghostly, but I held myself back. It didn't look like anything was hurting her. Kai didn't even touch her.Well, not exactly. At some point, I did see him hold her hand. She didn't open her eyes then. Instead, Kai closed his eyes too. Then they were both gone.Gone where?I had no idea.Wa
Lindsey I was surprised to see Alvis today. After our last interaction, I thought he'd stop trying to talk to me, but here he was, standing in front of me. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I need to talk to you, Lindsey." "Now? I was getting ready for bed," I replied. Alvis frowned. "Yes, now. This is important." I nodded and motioned him inside. Something in his voice told me he wasn't kidding around. His eyes were dark, and I looked at his hand which was closed into a fist. What was going on with him? "We can talk on the terrace," I said and led him there. He hesitated before saying something, so I waited patiently. I wondered what was so important that he couldn't wait to tell me. I wanted to ask him some questions too. "Who is Kai?" That was the first thing that came out of his mouth. Ah, so Alvis noticed me spending time with Kai. "Kai?" I repeated after him. "Yes, Kai. Who is he?" I wish I knew the answer. I've been wondering that myself. "I don't know." Alvis'
KaiMy little pet always had hounds sniffing around her. Adrian was no threat to me, but Alvis...he was bad news. He doesn't seem like the kind of person who'd give up on their mate. And he was strong. Stronger than the others. When he was near Lindsey, I instantly knew he was her mate, which irritated me. I wanted to kill him right then, burn him to ashes but restrained myself. It wasn't the right time. I had to wait patiently because Lindsey didn't trust me yet. I couldn't rush things with her this time. I saw him grabbing Lindsey and demanding answers from her, so I couldn't help but interrupt them. As I watched him touching her, my blood was boiling, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. "You! this isn't about you. This is between Lindsey and me, so stay out of it," Alvis Dalton snarled. "Ah, is that so? Looks to me like Lindsey is done with this conversation, so why don't you take a hike in the woods? It'll cool your head," I suggested. Alvis stared at me with a
Gosh, what a nightmare! That was quite a scene Alvis caused. I didn't expect him to attack Kai like that, so I didn't know what to do. All I could do was stand there and watch how things played out.Luckily, no one got hurt, and that was surprising since Kai never bothered to shift into his wolf form. I wonder why.And how the hell did he set Alvis on fire?"I am leaving you alone for now, Lindsey, but if you marry Adrian, things might get nasty," Alvis said before running off.Was that a threat? I sure hope not. I didn't want Alvis as my enemy too. I turned to Kai, who hadn't said a word to me yet. "You just had to, didn't you?""Whatever do you mean, my love?" Kai feigned surprise."Don't act coy. We are past pretending, don't you think? How did you set Alvis on fire? Who are you? Or should I ask what are you?" I asked with gritted teeth."Curious one, are you? I told you. All of your questions will be answered. Just not yet," Kai said slyly."That's bullshit! I want to know now. An
Alvis I felt the anger bubbling up inside of me, like a pot of boiling water on a stove. I felt the blood rushing to my head. My fists clenched and unclenched involuntarily as I struggled to contain the intense emotion within me. I couldn't believe what had just happened. My thoughts raced as I replayed the events over and over in my mind, each time fueling my anger further. I felt betrayed, disrespected, and taken advantage of. How could they do this to me? Lindsey and Kai. What kind of relationship did they have? If she claimed to love my brother, why was she so close to him? She acted like I was insignificant while keeping him near. I tried to take a deep breath to calm myself down, but it felt like the anger was consuming me from the inside out. I wanted to lash out, scream and yell, and make them pay for making me feel this way. But anger didn't solve anything, did it? I needed to come up with a plan. No, first, I needed to figure out who Kai was and where he came from.
LindseyTurning around, I begrudgingly pushed Kai away. Who did he think he was? "Stop it. Stop it, right now!"He chuckled, not at all phased by my icy attitude."You have no right to touch me like this!" I squealed. My body was burning. I didn't know if it was more from embarrassment or anger."I have no right, huh? Are you sure about that?" His forehead crinkled in amusement. He really was so infuriating."I should get back to my room," I said but didn't move from my spot. Instead, I stared. The droplets of water still clung to his chiseled chest and his abs glistened in the light, highlighting every muscle and curve. His hair is damp and tousled, framing his strong jawline and piercing eyes.My legs seemed to have minds of their own because they moved toward him, mesmerized by his rugged beauty."That's right, pet. Come to me. You can't resist me either, can you?" he husked. My eyes trailed down to his towel, barely hanging on his hips, leaving just enough to the imagination. My b
