CHAPTER 80

RUBY'S POV

I rushed out of the bathroom and ran back to the table that I and Dax occupied before I excused myself.

Once I got there, he was on a call and his face looked grave. He looked like he wanted to punch through a wall while he spoke on the phone with a tightened jaw and then he was done.

He turned toward me and looked up at me while I stood before him, heaving hard to catch my breath but also trying hard to keep a straight face so I wouldn't seem suspicious.

“Is something wrong? You don't look so good” I asked him as I took a seat and he palmed his face with a loud groan.

I didn't say a word as I let him remain that way, hoping he would feel better soon but then he pulled his hands away from his face and looked at me.

“I lost a partnership I was supposed to make with a foreign company and it was a huge one. It was going to help so much but now it's gone and then it had to be Dennis’s company I lost it to” he finally explained and I felt my heart drop again while I
