Chapter 37

Natalia:

I watched as mum opened my bedroom door without bothering to knock. Another thing that wasn’t like her. No matter what the circumstance was, mum always knocked the door.

She believed that I was asleep, and I pretended to be. I had to get out of this place, but I wouldn’t be able to do it if she suspected the fact that I was awake just yet.

Crystal was on edge sensing its danger, and the memory of the sink which melted was still fresh in my mind.

Flashback:

I forced myself to compose myself when the smell of acid filled my nostrils. The smell being familiar from projects that I did before I graduated. One of the main liquids that I dealt with, despite being a zoologist, was acid. Therefore, I was surprised that I haven’t picked up its smell.

I looked down at the sink to find that the thing melted, or more specifically, was still melting. I looked at the glass that was on the sink’s side
