Bas POV

Who would have thought the sight of my father would result in so much hatred within me? My muscles tensed, and my vision narrowed, focusing solely on the man I once looked up to, the man I loved and was willing to do anything to make proud. The man who betrayed me.

"Why?" I demanded, my voice shaking with barely controlled rage. "Why did you do it?"

Alpha Darius stepped closer, his smirk never faltering. "You were getting too weak. It had to be done to bring you back to reality."

My eyes widened, shocked by his response. "You're insane," I said through gritted teeth, my fists clenching at my sides. "Do you have no remorse? Because of you, a child died."

I watched my father chuckle as if I had said something funny. "Losses are meant to happen."

How can he say that?

I lunged at him, but the pain in my chest flared up, stopping me in my tracks. I fell to my knees, gasping for breath.
