Chapter Sixteen

JANE'S POV

Madam Joan hands her some chunks of dried meat “Madam, here's some meat for you”

She recoils as another wave of nausea hits her.

Madam Joan is suddenly terrified, “Madam, are you sure this is just cold?”

“My stomach aches, although I have had my medications already. I think it's one of the side effects of the medication.”

Madam Joan didn't see the need to get more suspicious anymore, she believed her.

I am getting overly worried now. The morning sickness would persist and soon my secret would be open to all.

Before sleeping that night, I made some silent prayers before digging out an ancient book about women and pregnancy. I opened the first pages and began reading with great interest.

The first pages were on early signs of pregnancy.

As she reads with keen attention, her mind slowly delves to her childhood days when she was forced to stay with her grandmother during holidays.

Her grandmother was a great medicine woman who derived so much joy in treating people for the tin
