Chapter 19: Keep You Safe

"Does she know about you and Zion?"

I was breathing so fast and I could barely hear Lizzy. Am I gonna be sacrificed today? Tomorrow? This week? Scary things about death keep crossing my mind as my body continuously heated me.

"Ivy, your hands are trembling," she added. I didn't realize that my hands were shaking as I was scrolling down on Lizzy's laptop, studying the plans for the event.

"Sorry," I said. "Where were we?"

She took a deep breath before folding the laptop. "I know something is wrong, Ivy. You can tell me. We can talk about this event later."

Lizzy and I went to the cemetery. I wasn't able to hold back a tear when she was crying in front of Abbie's gravestone. Abbie was her best friend and I couldn't imagine how Lizzy was feeling right now that she already how her friend died.

"I'm sorry that I didn't do anything to help you. I was so ignorant." She continued crying so I held her shoulder, trying to comfort her the best way I can.
