Two can play the game

I assumed they wouldn't stay back, but they did. It was surprising because I didn't expect that. I thought they would play it off as me speaking a bluff and go their way without listening to me.

At exactly 9:50, I asked them to enter the bathroom. They did so with so much difficulty, warning me with their eyes. Mitch was the only one who didn't look at me with suspicion as he entered the bathroom. I locked it behind me and went downstairs to wait for Helen. I played everything cool, so I wouldn't look like I was expecting her.

I made a cup of coffee and sipped it while waiting for her. She showed up at exactly 10, not a second later.

“Thank Goddess, you are here!” I threw the door open and ushered her in, grabbing her hand. “You don't know how much this means to me.”

“I'm glad.” She patted my palm with a smile. “We are friends, after all. I can't just let you wallow in sorrow without extending an arm of consolation towards you.”

“You are an angel!” I gulped down the coffee and drop
