Hailey's POV

“I haven't seen you in six years and all you say is ‘I'm sorry’? Come on, Alisha!” I rolled my eyes at her. I tried to sound like it doesn't hurt anymore and I feared that one day, it would hurt me so bad I'd lash out at her.

“Well, how are you?” Alisha asked reluctantly, her voice quivering just like her lips and fingers.

“How are you, Ali?” I summoned courage to ask. I was scared. Terrified. Going back to the way we were isn't something that can happen anytime soon but somehow I wanted it to happen.

“I'm good.” My gaze lingered upon her and she panicked. “Well not good, I'm sad and-” I chuckled. She's still the same. Diana excused us at my signal. I needed to talk to Alisha alone.

“You don't have to feel bad. I've been good too.” I responded as I watched her shiver under my gaze. I wasn't even doing anything, I was just staring at her, wondering how someone could be so wicked and harbour such hate in them such that they would want to claim what is not theirs. I wou
