Annabelle's POV

I never thought the day would come where I would meet my parents again, because after what happened it felt weird meeting them again. After what I did to Laura, my stepsister, I was sure they would never want to see me again. I was wrong.

The room was small and cramped, with old furniture as usual and yellowed wallpaper. My parents sat across from me, staring at me with a mix of relief and disappointment. I didn't blame them. I had screwed up big time. The silence weighed heavily on me as I sat there, unsure of how to begin.

My mother was the first to speak. "Annabelle, how could you do something like that?" She had always been the strictest of my parents. I knew she was angry, and rightfully so.

My father, on the other hand, looked at me with a sad expression. "Let her explain. There must be a reason why she did what she did." He always had a softer heart than my mother.
