Laura's POV

I sat on the couch in the living room, scrolling through my phone, waiting for Alexander to come home. It had been days since we had a proper conversation, and I was getting tired of it. It felt like he was always busy with work, and whenever he was home, he would just be on his phone, answering emails or reading articles.

As the front door opened, my heart fluttered with anticipation. Alexander walked in, taking off his coat and throwing it onto the rack. "Hey," he said, giving me a small smile.

"Hey," I replied, trying not to sound too annoyed.

He walked over to the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water. "How was your day?" he asked, still not looking directly at me.

"It was fine," I said, twirling my hair around my finger. "But I just feel like we haven't spent much time together lately."

Alexander sighed, leaning against the counter. "I know, and I'm sorry. Work has been crazy lately, and I haven't had much time for anything else."
