I didn’t know why George thought he had to explain his life to me. I didn’t ask.

I hated the fact that he did though because it kept my mind on him. It made me wonder what kind of family he came from that he had to get married for the sake of it just to keep the pressure off his back. Did his parents consider his feelings or what he wanted at all?

But George seemed like the kind of man who didn’t give a damn about anything. He was the kind of man that did things for himself. I understood that his parents held a special place in his heart but things became complicated when they didn’t have his best interests at heart.

I didn’t know much about them but I didn’t like them already.

As for Christine, there was only one logical reason for the scene she created that day. If all that George said was true, then she had fallen in love with him. That, or she thought she had some sick ownership over him.
