75. Desperate

It was a boring day at work, as usual since Abby wasn’t my secretary anymore. Some days, I wondered whether I should bring her to replace my secretary and promote the current one, but she hasn’t yet decided if she still wanted to work or not.

It was more than an hour before closing when my secretary suddenly called me and told me a woman was there to see me.

It made me frown. If anyone wanted to see me, they had to make an appointment first and my secretary never told me to expect a visitor.

My mind immediately went to Abby. She probably still had access to the private elevator and came up on her own before getting stopped by my secretary. “Did she tell you who she was?” I inquired.

“She said she’s your wife.”

A smile spread across my lips instinctively. I didn’t like surprises very much but if they were from Abby, I didn’t mind. In fact, I loved them. “Send her in.”
