Samantha POV Dinner with Kaleb's parents was a blast. Looking at them you can see why Kaleb is such a nice person. Maybe I was too hard on him. Perhaps he truly only wanted to be my friend. Kaleb's father told me the whole story about how he found out that Mary was his mate. His parents pushed him to find him a slave. They didn't want their baby boy to do any of the demeaning housework. So he went to the human island and felt a pull towards Mary, and he bought her. At that moment, he did not understand the mate pull yet. After a while, he became protective of her. He didn't allow anyone to say bad things about her. Neither he nor his wolf understood what is going on. Once they were both of age, then and only then, did the pieces finally fall together. His wolf wanted to claim her then and there. He didn't want to because he knew what trouble it would bring into the family. Mary and Kaleb senior had a long talk about what they were going to do. Kaleb senior's parents started settin
Samantha POV I was awoken by the blaring of an alarm. I look up at the clock and see that it is just past 6. Carra will be in an hour to pick me up for our shopping spree. I try to stand up but my muscles do not want to work with me. It feels like a ten-ton truck ran over me. I finally got my legs over to the side of the bed. All I need is a hot shower. This is just another lesson for me to drink my pills the way I should. I made my way into the bathroom with lots of moaning and groaning from my side. I think I am going to need a pain pill after I am done. As the warm water flows over me, I can feel my muscles start to relax. I guess I would not need that pain pill after all. Carra came by shortly after I finished up in the shower. I left my hair down just to save some time. I took too long in the shower in the first place and if I have to do my hair it will be another hour before we leave the house. Carra was waiting for me in the kitchen. I walked past Kaleb barely acknowledgin
Samantha POV Carra and I made our way to a burger place just around the corner. Carra raved all the way there. She said that they made the best burgers on the whole island. We were seated by a young boy. He could barely be ten years old. He took our orders on a small piece of paper. "Why isn't he in school?" I whisper to Carra once the boy left. "School isn't the same here as it is on the human island. Here they get holidays to sit and relax. Some choose to help their parents in their shop others just want to stay at home and sleep." I nod my head as I understood, but in all honesty, I don't understand. Who wishes to just waste their time doing nothing? We were taught efficiency. There was no time to just sit and relax in school. The boy came back and place our orders in front of us. I asked for the chicken burger and a diet coke. The smell already made my mouth drool."Can I ask you a question?" I ask Carra looking down at my hands."Yes, you can. You don't always have to ask me
Samantha POV I walked back into the house after my day out with Carra. I hung my dress in my room and went in search of Kaleb. Carra was right. I need to speak to Kaleb about what happened last night. I cannot just ignore it. I need to let him know what needs to happen just in case it happens again. Not that I am planning to let it happen ever again. I call his name, but there was no answer in the house. I don't think anyone is home. There is dead silence in the house. I start cleaning up just to pass the time. I didn't have time this morning since I was basically running out of the house. There was not much to do, so once I was done I made my way back to my room and started packing. I took out the clothes that I bought after we went to the salon. One thing that was made perfectly clear was that working with long nails was a horrible job. I was struggling with the most mundane things. I even had trouble with folding the clo
Samantha POV I get up early to make sure everything is packed and ready. Kaleb told me yesterday that the driver would drop off the car at around eight. He told me that he likes to drive long drives on his own. That he does not like to take one of the drivers away from their family. I wiped down the counters just to make sure that it is clean even if I did it the night before. I look around to see that my job here is done. The house is clean and the suitcases are at the door ready to be loaded in the car. I walk into the living room and sit down on the couch. I pick up my book and start reading where I left it last. I am currently reading one of William Shakespeare's books called Hamlet. Kaleb said that they read it in school and I was wondering what the whole thing was about. It is about the death of a king and his ghost tells his son to avenge him. It has pulled me in since the first pages. I can now understand why they like
Samantha POV The ball starts at four in the afternoon which gives me just enough time to get ready. Kaleb and I spent the morning touring the castle and surrounding and surrounding woods. The castle had more than 800 rooms so we did not get to see all of them. The ground was another story. There was a flower garden that the king has planted for his wife when they just met. It is so sweet and romantic. Once you go through the flower garden you walk into the maze. That is where we got lost. Kaleb had to call someone to come and get us. I thought it was funny, but Kaleb was not amused. He has been in a mood since we got back. I jump into the shower. I do the whole nine yards. This is the problem with beauty standards in this day and age. Men expect us to look our absolute best, but they do not understand the work that goes into it. We have to wash and do our hair. We need to shave almost every inch of our bodies. And that isn't even the worst part. We need to use our faces as colorin
Samantha POV It has been a week since we came back home. Even here has the mysterious man taken my freedom from me. I have been trying to hide my nervousness from Kaleb, but I think he is starting to realize that something is not right. I am afraid to be alone. I am scared of my own shadow. This morning I got a fright from a bird flying past the window. "Samantha, please come into my office." I jumped in fright. I nearly dropped the cup I was holding. I made my way into his office. Kaleb motioned towards the chair in front of the desk. He places a letter in front of me. "I heard back from your friend's master. He has no problem in the two of you having contact. She was bought by a vampire." My heart sank when he said that last word. "I....is she a blood bag?" I ask my hands shaking. "I have no idea. That is something that you will have to ask your friend." "Thank you." I run out of his office and into my room. I fall on my bed and open the letter from Joan. Dear Sam I am hap
Samantha POV (ONE YEAR LATER) It has been a year since I was bought by Kaleb. Kaleb and I have become so close, almost like we are family. Tonight is the coming-of-age ritual for a lot of werewolves. Packs come together so that werewolves that turn twenty-one that year can find their mate. All the single werewolves get together at this party. If you are already mated you are not allowed to attend. Kaleb has to attend since he is a non-mated wolf. I told Kaleb that I will wait for him at home. There is no way I want to attend a mating bond between wolves. Kaleb told me that once they meet their mate their wolves cannot be contained anymore. Their wolves will take the female right then and there. The wolves don't worry about who is there to see them. Now I am sitting here at home waiting for Kaleb to come back home. This party can range from one day to a week. There was a knock on the door. I am thinking that it isn't Kaleb since he would have a key to open the door. I open the d
