Chapter 22

Samantha POV

The ball starts at four in the afternoon which gives me just enough time to get ready.

Kaleb and I spent the morning touring the castle and surrounding and surrounding woods. The castle had more than 800 rooms so we did not get to see all of them. The ground was another story.

There was a flower garden that the king has planted for his wife when they just met. It is so sweet and romantic. Once you go through the flower garden you walk into the maze. That is where we got lost. Kaleb had to call someone to come and get us.

I thought it was funny, but Kaleb was not amused. He has been in a mood since we got back.

I jump into the shower. I do the whole nine yards. This is the problem with beauty standards in this day and age. Men expect us to look our absolute best, but they do not understand the work that goes into it. We have to wash and do our hair. We need to shave almost every inch of our bodies.
