Chapter 23

Samantha POV

It has been a week since we came back home. Even here has the mysterious man taken my freedom from me. I have been trying to hide my nervousness from Kaleb, but I think he is starting to realize that something is not right.

I am afraid to be alone. I am scared of my own shadow. This morning I got a fright from a bird flying past the window.

"Samantha, please come into my office." I jumped in fright. I nearly dropped the cup I was holding.

I made my way into his office. Kaleb motioned towards the chair in front of the desk.

He places a letter in front of me.

"I heard back from your friend's master. He has no problem in the two of you having contact. She was bought by a vampire." My heart sank when he said that last word.

"I....is she a blood bag?" I ask my hands shaking.

"I have no idea. That is something that you will have to ask your friend."

"Thank you." I run out of his office and into my room. I fall on my bed and open the letter from Joan.
