Samantha POV
I walked back into the house after my day out with Carra. I hung my dress in my room and went in search of Kaleb.
Carra was right. I need to speak to Kaleb about what happened last night. I cannot just ignore it. I need to let him know what needs to happen just in case it happens again. Not that I am planning to let it happen ever again.
I call his name, but there was no answer in the house. I don't think anyone is home. There is dead silence in the house.
I start cleaning up just to pass the time. I didn't have time this morning since I was basically running out of the house.
There was not much to do, so once I was done I made my way back to my room and started packing. I took out the clothes that I bought after we went to the salon.
One thing that was made perfectly clear was that working with long nails was a horrible job. I was struggling with the most mundane things. I even had trouble with folding the clo
Samantha POV I get up early to make sure everything is packed and ready. Kaleb told me yesterday that the driver would drop off the car at around eight. He told me that he likes to drive long drives on his own. That he does not like to take one of the drivers away from their family. I wiped down the counters just to make sure that it is clean even if I did it the night before. I look around to see that my job here is done. The house is clean and the suitcases are at the door ready to be loaded in the car. I walk into the living room and sit down on the couch. I pick up my book and start reading where I left it last. I am currently reading one of William Shakespeare's books called Hamlet. Kaleb said that they read it in school and I was wondering what the whole thing was about. It is about the death of a king and his ghost tells his son to avenge him. It has pulled me in since the first pages. I can now understand why they like
Samantha POV The ball starts at four in the afternoon which gives me just enough time to get ready. Kaleb and I spent the morning touring the castle and surrounding and surrounding woods. The castle had more than 800 rooms so we did not get to see all of them. The ground was another story. There was a flower garden that the king has planted for his wife when they just met. It is so sweet and romantic. Once you go through the flower garden you walk into the maze. That is where we got lost. Kaleb had to call someone to come and get us. I thought it was funny, but Kaleb was not amused. He has been in a mood since we got back. I jump into the shower. I do the whole nine yards. This is the problem with beauty standards in this day and age. Men expect us to look our absolute best, but they do not understand the work that goes into it. We have to wash and do our hair. We need to shave almost every inch of our bodies. And that isn't even the worst part. We need to use our faces as colorin
Samantha POV It has been a week since we came back home. Even here has the mysterious man taken my freedom from me. I have been trying to hide my nervousness from Kaleb, but I think he is starting to realize that something is not right. I am afraid to be alone. I am scared of my own shadow. This morning I got a fright from a bird flying past the window. "Samantha, please come into my office." I jumped in fright. I nearly dropped the cup I was holding. I made my way into his office. Kaleb motioned towards the chair in front of the desk. He places a letter in front of me. "I heard back from your friend's master. He has no problem in the two of you having contact. She was bought by a vampire." My heart sank when he said that last word. "I....is she a blood bag?" I ask my hands shaking. "I have no idea. That is something that you will have to ask your friend." "Thank you." I run out of his office and into my room. I fall on my bed and open the letter from Joan. Dear Sam I am hap
Samantha POV (ONE YEAR LATER) It has been a year since I was bought by Kaleb. Kaleb and I have become so close, almost like we are family. Tonight is the coming-of-age ritual for a lot of werewolves. Packs come together so that werewolves that turn twenty-one that year can find their mate. All the single werewolves get together at this party. If you are already mated you are not allowed to attend. Kaleb has to attend since he is a non-mated wolf. I told Kaleb that I will wait for him at home. There is no way I want to attend a mating bond between wolves. Kaleb told me that once they meet their mate their wolves cannot be contained anymore. Their wolves will take the female right then and there. The wolves don't worry about who is there to see them. Now I am sitting here at home waiting for Kaleb to come back home. This party can range from one day to a week. There was a knock on the door. I am thinking that it isn't Kaleb since he would have a key to open the door. I open the d
Samantha POV (Two weeks later) I am tired. I think I am more than tired. Kaleb's mate has been here for two weeks and I already want to kill her and throw her off a cliff. I know it sounds bad. I think she has a split personality. When Kaleb is home she is the most loving and caring person you have ever met. She helps me cook and clean. However, when Kaleb is not here she treats me like garbage. She even spat in my face yesterday afternoon. She told me that she does not know what the slave school has taught me. She treats me like her own personal slave. Yes, I can see the irony. She sits on the couch all day chatting away on her phone. We went to town yesterday and I had to carry all her shopping bags like I was a donkey. She treats me like I am nothing in her eyes. I think it has something to do with the fact that she is the daughter of an Alpha pair. They probably treated her like a princess and now she expects it from everyone around her. She complains about everything. I can
Samantha POV I walk around in my room. Just pacing back and forth. Kaleb told me this morning that he has to talk to me once he gets home. I am done with my daily tasks so now I am just waiting. Janet has been a pain in my ass the whole day. She bought herself a bell. Now every time she wants something she rings it.Since the mating ritual, I have been more paranoid. I hear the door open, so I make my way to the kitchen to start dishing up. What I found truly shocked me. Janet was standing in the kitchen with an apron on. The table was already set. There was candlelight in the middle. "My baby is home. I hope you liked the food that I cooked. I spent the whole afternoon in the hot kitchen." I crossed my arms over my chest and just stood there. I can't believe the gall of this woman. I don't think she has ever picked up a utensil in her life. Kaleb kissed her on the cheek and went to sit at the table. Once his back was turned towards her, she gave a smile. You can see on her face t
Samantha POV I am sitting on the boat just watching as the ocean flows by. I keep thinking about how everything just ended. I have given my trust to everyone on that island. and they just threw me away like yesterday's food. I asked Kaleb one last favor before I left. I asked him to send one last letter to Joan, saying that I do not know when I will be able to write her a letter again. I told her that as soon as it was safe that I will send her a letter with my new address. I have been on this boat for two days now. I am so bored. All I can do is sit and stare out of the window. I just hope that my new master will be better. However, I know that I will never find a better master than Kaleb, Even if he betrayed my trust. There are some werewolves that are accompanying me. I only see them when they bring me my food. They have tried to talk to me, but I think they just kind of stop trying. Carra's parting words will forever stay with me. " There is nothing more precious than a mati
Samantha POV I am standing in a big foyer waiting. I look at the paintings on the wall. They look old and worn. There is a marble statue of the woman that has just left the space. I look towards the stairs when I hear footsteps coming toward me. The lady looks young, around my age if I should guess. She has a business suit on. She looked so elegant. "Hi, my name is Emilee. I will be your roommate during your stay here. We will need you to hand over all your personal items that linked you to your previous life, including your phone. Please hand it over to Master Jackson." She pointed toward the big burly man next to me.I start rummaging through my bag for my cellphone. This is the only thing that I have. I decided to give Kaleb back his bank card when I left. I think by now he has found it in my room with the note. Once I was done, Emilee motioned for me to follow her. I took my luggage from Master Jackson. I was halfway up the stairs when I turned around and look back. Master Jack
