Chapter 191
Author's POV... ***TEN MONTHS LATER***Selena sat at the edge of the bed. It was a small medical unit in the pack house, and she had just been briefed by the doctor during her final session. After months of therapy, he told her she was fine and ready to go on with her normal life. She could feel her inner wolf longing to be out in the open and enjoy the serenity that the forest offered, to breathe in the sweet-smelling air of the forest and bask in the warm sun rays. According to Alexa's request made before she left, Alpha Logan checked up on her occasionally to ensure she was fine. It's been so long, but she missed Alexa a lot and wished terribly that she was right there with her. Therapy had taken a whole lot of time for Selena, but now she was healed. She was ready for things to go back to normal. She missed dining with the other wolves and couldn't wait to begin training with the guards, as Simon had set her up for self-defence lessons. Her life was fine now, but it still felt

Chapter 192
Author's POV.The next morning, Selena woke up to an empty room. The bed was well made on the side, vacant beside her. It was long cold, and she knew he had left for a long time.Selena and Simon were not mates, and although her wolf had enjoyed him, she did not feel that tingle or the way mated people described. But she loved him a lot, and through the night, Simon had told her that he loved her too.The night passed with them both sweaty and exploring every each of their skins, kissing, touching, letting the fire burn them till they reached their peak over and over again.  Selena sighed as she rolled over, partly worried that he left before she woke, but then her slag muscles gave her a sense of calm and relaxation that came with passionate lovemaking. This morning, she had her training to do, and she wanted to try if the crowded dining room would make her keep down any meal.As she anticipated the day ahead, she remembered the first

Chapter 193
Logan's POV...The air was a little warm, and although I was a good distance away from the kitchen, I could still smell the odd aroma of raw meat being fried. The smell of burnt blood did things to my nostrils that I could not just explain. Maybe it appealed to my inner wolf.I had missed dinner with the rest of my men at the pack dining room. I was more concerned with my heart, which was beating a little out of control, than my grumbling stomach.Simon had joked once or twice about my current state of loneliness and how he thought it was affecting my productivity - whatever that meant. To me, I was doing perfectly alright, and there was no reduction in my productivity. I trained when I had to, I was always available for patrols, I did rounds in the territory and I tried to make sure everything was perfect. I still could not understand why Simon thought I was not performing at my best.Simon tried all he could to cheer me up, but I noticed that Simon and

Chapter 194
Logan's POV...It was mid-day when the event planner was done with all the decorations, and it was at that point I realized how absurd my plan was. But despite the absurdity of the idea, it seemed like people were responding quite positively to it. At first, I did not want to let anybody know about it. But then, Simon became so inquisitive that hiding the inflammation from him was difficult. At about noon, just after I had brunch with him, I told him my plan, and as I expected, he did not quite respond well to it.He first stood still for about 10 seconds, no doubt waiting to see if I was joking. Then when he realized I wasn't, he gave me the best you-have-got-to-be-fucking-kidding-me face in the history of faces. At that point, I did not know what to say that would make me not sound like I had gone stack raving mad or I was simply a pervert, so I kept silent, hoping that he would realize I was serious and praying silently that this yielded good results so I wou

Chapter 195
Logan's POV...I could categorically say that the event was a success. Or at least, even if it was not as successful as I thought it would be, it was not a total failure like the fear I had pictured in my mind.It was past midnight when I finally retired to my chambers, but I was not alone; I was with a woman, finally. The night had been swift; there was no drama and even for the large number of women that assembled, I was surprised that it was not a total madhouse. They were well-behaved and impeccably mannered. I could even confess without feeling too guilty that one or two of them actually caught my eye. From the beginning of the event, I tried to ensure that not too much alcohol went around; I had learnt pretty early that women and alcohol were not such a good mix, especially when there was such an amount together in one place. The men that mounted the gate ensured everyone who came in had their IV with them. The men, of course, attempted

Chapter 196
Alexa's POV... I had always been the realistic person in my group of friends and family members, frankly, some people thought it was the same thing as being pessimistic, but it was as different as day and night. While being pessimistic meant thinking and believing that only bad and disastrous things could ever happen to you, being realistic actually meant seeing the world for what it is and not having some fairytale conception of the world around you. I was not a pessimist; I was simply being realistic and taking whatever ball that life kept my way, knowing that I could not change everything; I could change only the things that I tried. Fate was indeed a thing because it did not make sense how I could taste a life of happiness and joy for one second, and in the next second, I was out of that love, peace and serenity and back to a life of loneliness if not for Ginny and Alvin. Alvin, my one-month-old baby, who seemed to be the centre of my world. When I realized I was pregnant,

Chapter 197
Alexa's POV...Alvin, my baby, my joy, my pride, my world had just turned one month, and it was a big deal for me. Most times, Ginny made fun of how much I dotted on him, that I was smothering him with attention, and it was not the best thing to do.But then, I could not quite understand her. How could I stay away from my baby when I had waited a full nine months just to meet him? But she was right; in just a matter of one month, I had lost so much weight that the elephant weight I was concerned about putting on was no longer an issue; I had lost all the extra weight. This, according to Ginny, was because I was not taking good care of myself anymore, I was missing my meals just to make sure that the baby was not awake and looking for me, and she also pointed out that since I was breastfeeding, I had to eat enough and healthy for the both of us.In my defence, I tried, but then it was difficult to look away from the child, from such cuteness that he exuded

Chapter 198
Alexa's POV..."Alexa, another one just came in," Ginny tried to call out from the living room; all I could hear was her muffled voice from the soft music that was playing in the kitchen. I turned off the music box and tried to listen to what she was saying. "...they just keep coming in; I don't think you'll be able to clear out all these orders today," she said, her voice chirpy.I was much happier than she was. My business was booming, 'our business' like I usually said. After all, she was saddled with Alvin for all the hours I needed to bake.Cakes, waffles, muffins, cookies, spring rolls, doughnuts, scorched eggs, I was getting one order or the other since the second week that I started delivering my supplies at the bakery down the road.It was not a big plan. I simply had baked too much one day when I saw a recipe for cookies in a baker's book I read from Ginny's small shelf. In my excitement, I tried all the flavours listed there. I did

Chapter 199
Logan's POV...I could finally admit to myself that I was getting miserable. All the men I had to send out to search for Alexa returned with anything but the woman herself. It was getting increasingly uncomfortable for me, and the council members had somehow gotten air of the fact that I was still looking for Alexa. The elders had sent someone to me for a meeting later that evening, but I had no intentions of showing up.Selena and Simon were both very supportive. Selena had taken it upon herself to travel to other territories, which she thought were the possible places where Alexa would settle down because she had always mentioned how much she loved to visit the other packs. However, nobody knew if she was there because they were yet to find her.I was short of posting her face on paper, writing missing person and pasting it all over and beyond. It seemed like some force in the universe was very bent on separating us. It was like the more I searched, the

Chapter 200
Alexa's POV...Time indeed flies. In just a matter of days, I was making a lot of money from supplying cookies and other bakes to the pastries shop. Ginny, as usual, was saddled with the responsibility of babysitting Alvin. She kept reassuring me that she was okay and happy to help. But I tried my best to make sure I did not overwork her with all the load. The sales at the pastries shop were improving. My business partner, who helped me sell my bakes, assisted me in getting a messenger boy who would take my orders from the shop and come over to Ginny's house to collect the packaged goods to deliver. Every day, orders came from both the customers and the pastry shop owner himself. If not for anything, I learned a valuable lesson in that small town, growth was easy, was the work needed? Yes, would it be all rosy? No, but in the end, all you need to do to grow is take life one step at a time, just like I had done when I arrived in this pack with my pregnancy.
