Chapter 20
We left the coffee shop, wasting no time in our search for David and Dimietry. I practiced my spells, while Tony and Sylvia packed weapons to aid them in battle. We each made sure we had on a warm pair of jeans and unlike them; I put on a warm sweater and slipped a hoodie over it for extra warmth. Werewolves don’t need extra garments to keep warm, the blood flows through their veins so fast it’s nearly impossible for them to get cold. Tony lifted the duffle bag over his shoulder as Sylvia and I put on our jackets. We set out east on foot. The cold hit my face bitterly; the weather was beginning to turn as November drew closer. I took a deep breath through my nose. I wanted to smell as much of the autumn air as I could before we went underground. We made our way through the woods, sniffing every rock, leaf and tree on our path to make sure we were going in the right direction. As the sun began to set and the darkness rose to the sky, Tony and Sylvia transformed so they could see bett

Chapter 21
They didn’t notice me as I came up to the clearing, so I stopped for a minute to watch them. They were so engrossed with each other that even on lookers would believe they were the only two in the world. Laughing at each other’s jokes and playfully pushing one another as their eyes gleamed with such passion and happiness. They were more than in love, they were soul mates bound by destiny to be together; they were one long before they had ever met. I leaned up against a large tree nearby and continued to watch them; I couldn’t help but be fascinated by how well they communicated with each other. They were beautiful on their own but they were even more beautiful as a pair. I didn’t realize how long I had been watching them before I looked up at the night sky to see the stars. Looking around me to see my surroundings, I slowly started towards where Sylvia and Tony were with a smile on my face and a little bounce in my step. They made me feel so good; I didn’t care if it showed. I came

I couldn’t fall asleep, I just sat up and watched Tony and Sylvia curled up next to each other. Their ears twitching every time a new sound was made in the distance, only lifting their heads if the sound got close. It usually only turned out to be an animal or, if it was really far away, a hunter turning over in the leaves; all together it was fascinating to watch them lying together. Aside from that, the only movement they made was once in a while kicking their feet back from a nightmare or two they were having. They slept in wolf form incase danger came near so they could react without having to waste any time with transforming in and out of wolf-form. I lasted about two hours before I finally dozed off. I woke up alone, the fire was put out and Tony and Sylvia were nowhere to be found. The heavy fog that surrounded the area made it extremely difficult to smell anything. Everything was in a grayish light; even the sky offered nothing in the color department. All I saw were clouds,

Chapter 23
A vision hit me in the chest and nearly knocked me to the ground. The changelings were here, and they stopped for a rest. David was with them and he was hurt. They tied his hands together with barbed wire, led him on a barbed wire leash with a barbed wire choker collar like he was some kind of wild animal. Blood was dripping from his hands and neck where the wire prongs on the barbed part of the wire rope had stabbed him. The pain in his eyes shot right into my chest as they pulled on the leash for fun while they laughed at him savagely; and if he didn’t move fast enough they struck him with a barbed wire whip with a ball on the end wrapped in the same barbed wire. He tried to hide the pain as much as he could not to give them the gratitude of torturing him. A force of wind knocked me away from the tree, forcing me out of my vision before I could tell which way they were heading, but that didn’t matter because we were at least on the right path. I came out of the vision crying my eye

Chapter 24
My thoughts trailed off and my mind was suddenly blank. I kept breathing slowly to get my heart rate down before opening my eyes. The air was cool but the sun was shining. It would have been a perfect day to roll around in the leaves and make some warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream and caramel. My stomach began to growl and I noticed I was starting to get hungry. We had a ways to go yet so I didn’t want to act on that urge until it was time. I knew that I was going to need something big to fill my stomach tonight. I shook my head and struggled to gather my thoughts before turning my attention from the sky. “Let’s go now.” I said, I couldn’t waste anymore time. I had to get to David before they took it too far. I couldn’t let him die, especially not because of me. Tony and Sylvia gave me a look of understanding and we all got up and trudged on. Soon enough we were close to the cave that Dimietry was hiding in. The night had fallen on us, though, and we all

Chapter 25
I saw a small glimmer of light off to my left and began to follow it. It was a soft, orange glow as if there were a fire off in the distance. As I got closer to the growing orange glow, the screams got louder. My heart pounded as I anticipated finding David and bringing him back out of the cave, if I could find my way out of the cave. I felt the heat coming from the orange glow and I knew it wasn’t much farther. I inched up as close to the entrance of the room as I could. There were a couple of changelings in the room so I pressed myself up closer against the limestone cave wall to avoid detection. I inched along the wall and peaked around the corner to find David chained to the wall in barbed wire. He was doubled over in pain as the changelings whipped him and kicked him over and over again while laughing. His face was so cut up and swollen, the spit running down his chin as he cried for them to stop. They just looked at him and laughed kicking harder this time. My heart started to

We found shade underneath an abnormally large maple and sat down. As we looked over to the cave, fear struck our hearts. This was really happening, no backing out now. In a few moments we would be on our feet again and in front of the entrance. I examined the opening of the cave and my eyes squinted in the sunlight as it seemed to move farther and farther away from me. Getting dizzy from the movement, I fell over on my side and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes again, Tony and Sylvia were kneeling at each side of my head. Sylvia took her hand and placed it palm down on my forehead as if to check my temperature. She caressed the bridge of my nose with her thumb as she smiled at me. I smiled back attempting to reassure her that I was fine. Tony smirked for a moment and then looked at the cave. He sighed before turning his eyes to the ground in deep thought. This was big for all of us. We had no clue what Dimietry had in store once we entered the cave. He could have hundreds of cha

Before we lowered the rope I sent a flame ball down to see what we could see. Tony looked out the entrance to make sure no one was coming and we lowered the rope down until the only rope visible was leading to the anchor. I tugged on it with all the strength I had to make sure once again that it was sturdy enough for us to climb down. “Alright all set!” I called over to Tony and then looked again down the hole. “We better hurry so we don’t attract any attention to this area” Sylvia nodded and we both looked over in Tony’s direction. “Who’s going first?” Tony asked enthusiastically. Sylvia and I looked over at each other and shrugged our shoulders. I turned my attention back over to Tony and, with my left hand; I pointed to him and smiled sweetly. He smiled back at me, “you two are chickens, you know that?” his walk then turned into a jog. We both knew that he wanted to be the first and we also knew that he was right; we were too scared to be the first ones to be down in the darkness

Sylvia and I both looked at each other exhausted and then we both simultaneously collapsed. We sat there for about a half an hour waiting for Tony to get up, but he didn’t. I stood up and began to walk over to him. Scared for the worst, I touched his arm and began to rock him back and forth. It wasn’t very long after that, that he woke up. “OWWWWWWW” he screamed. “Why do you have to be so rough?” still not moving from his position. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” I answered back to him while looking him over and checking for any life threatening injuries. “I’m playing dead,” he said smirking at me. “I figured if I keep it up the changelings would leave me alone and I can heal.” He closed his eyes again motioning his expertise in the field. “Oh, so you left Sylvia and me to fend for ourselves, eh?” I jabbed him in the arm knowing it would hurt him. He yelled out in pain. “Like I would be of any help to you anyway,” he said grabbing his arm. “I can barely walk; I broke m

Chapter 29
We tip-toed through the entrance into a large hallway of the cave, looking around to make sure there were no changelings in the area before moving on. Keeping as quiet as we could, we only spoke through hand gestures just in case any of the creatures were near. The “hall way” of the cave was slightly narrow to the point where I wondered how we were going to hide if any changelings did come our way. My heart pounded every step of the way as we got deeper and deeper into the crevice. Finally coming up to another clearing, I felt a huge weight lifted off my chest as we began to examine the room. Once it was all clear, we trudged on looking behind us and above us as we silently but swiftly moved through the large clearing into another hallway. This hallway was bigger than the last and had some large formations of rock to hide behind at least. The smell that filled my nostrils from last night quickly invaded them again; we were getting closer to where I had been. There was not one part o
