Katherine’s POV

If I survive this, I solemnly promise not to take any walks in the woods by myself… I swore as my eyes closed from the pain, and I blacked out.

It all started with a particular text message.

The past couple of days have been tense while we prepared for an attack. The Regent pack hasn't gotten back to us yet and their radio silence could only mean one thing.

Caleb was also worried about Shadow and Ethan as Ethan had suddenly dropped off the face of the earth and Shadow's movements had been shady.

This dark and deliberate murkiness on their part isn't helping. Caleb is stressed out with the planning, henceforth he's short on everyone and has become unbearable to deal with. I miss Roy and mingling with my fellow women in the community wasn't helping any as I was consistently reminded of what I didn't have.
