Chapter 30 - Geneva

GENEVA'S POV

My piercing scream echoed after my hands slipped. The bird shrieked with me before I was swept away mid-air. I let out a loud breath before realizing what had happened. Agnes' hands around me after he caught me from falling felt like a strong lock around my body. "W-we failed to retrieve the wings…" I mumbled as we landed on the ground.

I groaned from the pain as he laid me down on the cold grass to what seemed like the last thing I'll feel before passing. "You think I'll recover from this?" I jokingly asked with what little energy I had.

"You're not a mortal, you will." I may not be a mortal but I sure as hell feel like one. My powers are weak, and I feel the everlasting exhaustion and pain a human body feels. In a world dominated by werewolves and vampires, I'm not a deity but just a mere mortal right now.

"What… w-were we?" I hesitated.

"We're beings in this–" I shook my head lightly as I coughed.

"What… happened– between y-you and me?" I restarted my sentence and
