Chapter forty three

Narrator's POV

The City, Hope's house

Joe looked at her. "Stop looking at me", she blushed, looking down at her food. Joe always had a way of making her feel like a novice. His smile. His new found confidence.

He was a new, different man. And she had to be wary.

Hope had gone back to work, and they were in the kitchen.

"Don't you have work? " she asked with a frown, half-wishing he wouldn't leave because of what she said.

She was head over heels for him.

"You're going to stay up all night doing it anyway".

She paused, the food in her throat hanging.

He passed her some water.

She looked at him. She never took Hope for a big mouth.

"I should have noticed. Paid more attention".

"It's not your fault i'm sick. You have a lot on your plate".

"But it's you I want to eat! ", he said with a smile.

"Joe! ", she screamed, her face turning red.

What the hell was happening to her?!

Her naivety seemed to come from nowhere, and she was behaving like she and Joe never made out before.
