Two Hundred and fifty five

Chapter 255

After reaching the halfway point, Nicholas pulled the car over. He had to pull over because he was going to drop Alicia off there. Their destinations were different. Nicholas had to go to the police station, meet Noel and check if the license plate of the car that had been waiting in front of Mrs. Thompson's house all night belonged to Ace. Alicia, on the other hand, had to go check on Anna Parker, a personal secretary who worked on a freelance basis and did not stay in the office of her adoptive mother, Michelle Hathaway.

"Sorry for not being able to take you to the Star Corporation office, Alicia."

Alicia rolled her eyes lazily, then patted the arm of Nicholas who was sitting in the driving seat. "Come on, Nick. You're talking like a stranger. I'll call you when I'm done meeting with Anna Parker."

Nicholas looked at Alicia straight on. He felt both guilty and worried. "You promised you'd call me, didn't you?"

"Of course."

The smile on Nicholas' lips was finally there. He nodded his head and said, "Okay. See you soon, Alicia."

"Goodbye."

Alicia quickly got out of Nicholas' car and walked around. She crossed the street and saw a large building in front of her. After observing for a while, Alicia made her move. Alicia entered and was met by Charlotte. This was a good coincidence.

"Hi, good morning," Alicia greeted, trying to look familiar.

Charlotte, who had just finished hanging up a phone call from someone, looked up. She smiled a little, then greeted Alicia. "Hi, is there anything I can do for you?"

"Can I see Anna today?"

"Anna?"

"Anna Parker, I came here yesterday to meet with Anna, but she's no longer in the office. Maybe you can help me meet with her. Or she-"

"Sorry, Miss!" Charlotte interrupted Alicia's unfinished speech. "But is the Anna Parker you're looking for this Anna Parker?"

Charlotte showed her phone screen, there was a picture of Charlotte and Anna on it, and Alicia immediately nodded her head. "Looks like she's the Anna I'm looking for."

A small murmur could be heard from Charlotte as she pulled her phone away from Alicia. Shrugging, the girl who let her hair fall over her shoulders explained, "Anna Parker has submitted a letter of resignation to the management. She stops working from today."

"What?!"

Charlotte nodded her head. "She got another job, and submitted her resignation a few days ago. Since she has always met the company's targets, the management has no reason to keep her out of this company."

Alicia could not hide the shocked expression on her face. She bit her lips, which were polished with pink lipstick, and looked around in confusion. Alicia thought that she would go to Anna and ask her some questions about her parents' death. But Anna left before Alicia could find her.

"Is there anything else I can do for you?" asked Charlotte. Her voice breaking Alicia's attention, Alicia turned to Charlotte who was sitting behind the reception desk quietly. "I think you'd really like to meet Anna Parker."

"Um, do you have Anna's home address? Let me meet her outside the office," Alicia said, trying to find a way to meet Anna. No matter what, Alicia had to be able to meet Anna. "Or, another address where I can meet Anna."

"Did Anna do something bad to you? You've been insisting on looking for her since our first meeting, Miss."

Alicia mumbled under her breath, then she began to explain her purpose for coming. "She worked for my mother. Now, my mother is dead. But there's information that Anna has and I need to meet her to get that information. So, can you help me?"

Hearing Alicia's urgent words, Charlotte was concerned. She also had an emotional story between herself and her mother. This could not be avoided. Charlotte was melted by Alicia's strong will. She then said, "Wait a minute."

For a few minutes, Charlotte checked the computer in front of her. After checking, Charlotte took a paper and pen, wrote down an address on the paper, and handed it to Alicia. With a small smile, Charlotte explained what she knew.

"This is the address written in Anna's job application letter. This data is in the computer. I can't confirm whether Anna still lives at this address or not, but maybe you can check it out out of curiosity." Alicia happily accepted the paper. Alicia's brown eyes tried to scrutinize the address written by Charlotte. "Anna works well at this company. She doesn't leave a bad impression and the clients are very satisfied with her work. I hope she has the information you're looking for about your mother."

"Oh my, thank you very much, Miss Charlotte." Alicia lifted the paper into the air, she smiled with gratitude. "I really appreciate your kindness."

"You're welcome."

"I'll be going now. Again, thank you very much."

Alicia looked for a taxi that could take her to Anna's address. At least she had Anna's home address. Alicia just needed to make sure that Anna still lived there and they could meet.

The taxi driver who took Alicia to the address understood Alicia's situation. He moved very quickly, avoiding the endless traffic in New York City. And after a few minutes, they finally arrived at the address where Anna lived. It was a simple house next to other houses. It wasn't the typical luxurious house, but at least it looked neat and clean from the outside.

"We've arrived at your address, Miss," said the taxi driver. He handed her a bill and she paid him in cash without receiving any change.

Alicia looked at the house in front of her. She squinted, determined to say everything she wanted to ask about Michelle before knocking on Anna Parker's door.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

It took several knocks on the door to get the owner to come out and meet Alicia. Anna Parker opened the door and stared in shock at Alicia, she prepared to close the door, but Alicia immediately held it back with her foot.

"Wait! We need to talk!"
