Gunter’s POV

Liya's smile, though small and heartbreaking, was the last flicker of light before she succumbed to the very darkness she had eradicated.

The glow of her fur was dimmed, and it slowly disappeared as she allowed it to swallow her whole. Panic clawed at my throat.

This couldn't be it. Not after everything we'd been through. “No. No. You can’t fucking leave us Liya! Not now, not ever!” I growled, holding her limp wolf form in my arms.

My wolf felt disoriented, it was as good as death. Why was fate so cruel? Why would it take her from us again? Especially now, when everything was fine.

It was depressing that my mate had to sacrifice herself, so others would live. My wolf howled within me, a loud and sad sound that reverberated the grief I felt within.

We were a mess. Rage and despair twisted our features, a sight that chilled the onlookers to the bone.
