I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs wafting into my room and tickling my senses.I let out a loud yawn and quickly left the bed tripping and tumbling over myself before I could make it to the door.With one eye open I made it to the kitchen just in time to appear normal.I sniffed my way to the pan on the stove and just filled my belly with the smells.“Have you had your fill? I was frozen in place for a few seconds in shock. Riley was standing there, her face was covered in dirt and her hair was matted like fur.But with all the bruises and dirt on her she still had a smile on her face.“Good to see you, C” she said weakly.I sprung alive and ran to hug my best friend. I just held her there willing the tears away as they threatened to spill but I knew she wouldn't like that.“Oh my Goddess, I can't believe it. I can't believe it….” I said touching her face and checking all over her body for any injuries.“You better believe it,” she said with a smile and winced immediately at the gesture.“Oh– I uh– please come in. Let me take care of you” I said, taking her hand and leading her into the house.“It's okay, C. Just show me a room and I'll freshen up” she said.I looked at her with a tender smile on my face. I have tried, and failed, not to think about the night we kissed. I could still feel his lips on mine, the tingling sensation when his hands caressed my body.I shivered a bit watching his back move as he turned the corner. I shook my head, this was not the time to be imagining things like this.He turned back to me, as if hearing my inner thoughts, shot me a pointed look and shook his head teasing me.I felt blood rush to my face. Mason and his men.“You remember Mason?” He asked, leading me to a chair beside him.I nodded my head and waved to him in greeting and he nodded back at me.“Him and his men succeeded in extracting most of our pack members that were still held captives which included Riley” he said.“Thank you. I'm eternally grateful”

Riley kept squealing and doing different tricks in the water. It genuinely looked like she was having the time of her life and I was like a proud mother hen for it.I remembered seeing a lake the last time I wandered off on one of those days when my head was everywhere.So my brain let off a light bulb when I thought about what we could do for fun. I ran out of my room and into the kitchen as fast as I could. I had been avoiding Christian for the whole morning.
