Varya's POV

“An assignment was given to everyone, is this how you want to do yours? Sit around and enjoy people talking about you?”

Tia's voice slashed through air from behind me. What was this? Was she seriously picking on me on her first day?

“Ehm, Miss Tia, I can't control people who talk about me,” I responded, my voice betraying a hint of frustration. “And I had no idea there was anything to talk about in my ordinary life.”

“You don't plan to do your job because you're the director's wife,” she said, arching an eyebrow in a way that made my blood boil.

“I'm sorry, Miss Tia, but I work as an employee,” I retorted, my voice firm but controlled. “My private life does not affect my job.”

I could feel the anger rising within me, but I knew I had to keep my cool. Engaging in a public argument with my superior would only make things worse.

She sneered at me mockingly, looking at me with so much disdain.

“That's easy for you to say when you have the director wrapped around your finger,”
