CHAPTER 19

I glanced at the clock. It was already 3PM. I turned to face the project I was working on. “Miss Tia, I’m finishing up the presentation for the clients. Can it wait until Monday?” Tia’s eyes narrowed.

“No, it cannot. This is urgent. Or do you think being the director’s wife exempts you from following orders?” I swallowed her frustration.

“I’ll get it done.” As Tia walked away, I sighed and shifted my focus to the reports. Task completion exceeded the estimated time, so I could just briefly go through my presentation before the meeting.

Task delay aside, I was able to finish what I needed to do and it was only then that a sense of unease crept over me. The next day was the day of the presentation, I made sure I arrived early to set everything straight.

The boardroom was set, and I felt a flicker of hope. As the clients filed in, I confidently began my pitch. However, midway through, the projector screen went blank.

I clicked frantically, but nothing happened. Panic rose within me as
