EmeryThe conversation took a serious turn, and we were now looking at each other with conviction. She placed her hands in mine and said, “You can trust me like your own mother.”
I sighed. This is going to be a long conversation. She listened attentively while I shared with her the details of my mother’s death. I also told her where I had been residing for the past few years and all of the vicious things that the Beta family has done to me. Emery I went back to my room to prepare for Kairo and I’s trip. Was this a date? I thought to myself. I felt giddy and excited that I was finally having some alone time with my mate. I went to my closet and tried to find the most decent clothes that I had. I only ever have plain t-shirts and jeans but hidden in the very back of my closet were my mom’s clothes.
