Chapter 9

Aliza's Point of View

"This is your locker," Kayla said when we got to my locker. I already knew where my locker was and the code but I acted as if I didn't. "I am going to get my things out of my locker, and then we can walk to the first period together. You can sit by me if you would like," Kayla said

"That would be great, thanks," I replied with a smile, then I walked with her to her locker. Once she got her things we headed to first period.

"Can I ask you a question?" Kayla asked. We were early to the first period, and we were the only students in the classroom. The teacher was also not in the room yet.

"Sure," I said

"Why did you hug me the day you arrived? It seemed like you knew me, but I know we have never met before," Kayla said. I was silent for a moment, trying to figure out how to answer her question. I knew I couldn't tell her the truth. If I did, she would think I was crazy.

"Let's just say I have a feeling you and I are going to be great friends. That is if you would like to be my friend. You seem like a great person," I said

"Thanks, and I would like to be your friend," Kayla said, and I smiled at her. "Is it true that you didn't know that you were half werewolf?" Kayla asked

"Yeah, my mom kept it a secret from me. I didn't find out until I shifted for the first time," I said

"You must have been upset when you found out," Kayla said

"Yes, I was, but my mom and I talked while we were driving here, and she told me she didn't tell me to protect me," I said

"So, you aren't mad at your mom anymore?" Kayla asked

"No. I know my mom wouldn't do anything unless she thought it was for the best," I replied

"That is good. I can tell your mom and Luna Catherine aren't getting along," Kayla said, and I looked at her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be noisy or anything," Kayla said

"No, it's alright, and you are right. My mom and Catherine don't like each other. Catherine keeps trying to convince me to live in the packhouse, and she keeps saying that I should move in since my mom kept who my dad was a secret," I said

"I overheard some of the pack members talking about that. Some of them overheard the conversation," Kayla said

"I feel that Catherine is trying to turn me against my mom," I said

"I am not trying to overstep, but I am sure that is what she is trying to do. Luna Catherine isn't the nicest woman, and you should watch out for her," Kayla said. That was what she told me the first time we met, but I didn't listen to her. I wish I would have listened to her warnings. She would warn me about Catherine, how she wasn't the nicest person, and how I shouldn't let her turn me against my mom, but I didn't. Now I knew the truth.

"Thank you, Kayla. I can tell you are going to become my best friend," I said, and she smiled.

The bell rang, warning everyone that class would start in five minutes. Soon, the teacher walked in and the students followed soon after.

The day went by quickly, and it felt like Daja vue. It was weird living the day over again, just like it had been the day before. At lunch, Kayla and I sat at the table we always sat at with the students we always sat with. It was crazy that no one but me knew that we had lived this day before. Everyone else talked as if it was the first time they were having the conversation. Everyone was smiling without a care in the world. If only they knew what was going to happen. If only they knew the danger they were in and that most of them would be killed. No, I wasn't going to think like that. I had to figure out how I was going to save them all.

One person I knew I could trust was Kayla, but I had to figure out how to tell her everything without her thinking I was crazy.

"I am so happy school is over," Kayla said as we walked to her car.

"So am I," I replied. She was taking me back to the Packhouse so that we could do homework together. I had already called my mom and let her know I was going to hang out with Kayla and would be back home later. She agreed and told me to have fun.

Once we arrived at the packhouse, Kayla parked the car, and we walked inside. We were about to head to her room when we heard the voice I didn't want to hear.

"Aliza," Catherine said, causing me to groan. I didn't want to have to deal with her fakeness yet.
