KING ARLO'S POV

I let out another exasperated sigh, slamming shut the laptop I was working on. I leaned back on my chair with a sigh, shutting my eyes briefly.

"Arlo,"

My gaze went to the door and I felt a bit of my agony slip away as my Beta-slash-best friend walked in.

"Ivan, dude. Thanks for coming on such short notice," We bumped fists and he sat on the chair facing mine.

"You sounded too serious. And I was literally doing nothing, so here I am," He tugged at his coat, placing a leg over the other.

"Still, thank you. I know it's been a while since we sat and talked like this. I've been so caught up on so many things that I barely even got time for myself."

"I would say it's fine, but I did feel a bit ignored. Not gonna lie."

"I'm sorry,"

"But then that's how it is when you find your mate, right? They become the center of your existence. How magical," Ivan made a fake glee with a shudder.

I let out a throaty laugh, rubbing my temples slightly. "You still on about this?"
