01 ~ Divorce

Regina Campbell left the Flower shop at 15:09 pm with a happy face, satisfied with what she had bought for Damon Salvatore -- Her supposed husband. It was his birthday, and Regina couldn't think of any gift considering her husband hates surprises. She boarded a cab which came to a stop in front of her home.

"$2.76 cents, off you go now." Regina waved the driver off and marched towards her living room holding onto the flower and the card. It was true and very well known that Regina Campbell and Damon Salvatore's marriage was a marriage of inconvenience. However, it was no secret that Regina loved her dear husband so much that she took in his abuses without defending herself or leaving him.

Rumors had it that she was staying back because Damon was a millionaire and she probably couldn't live without his money. Regina ignored the rumors because to her, she wasn't after his money but after his heart. Damon turns 29 today and they've been married for 2 years already. How time flies!

"Honey. I'm back home, are you here?" Regina called out, putting down the flower, her bag and cell phone. She was welcomed with silence and so she proceeded to remove her shoes before making her way upstairs to her husband's room.

"Damon. Are you home?" She had stopped to first knock at his door so he won't have a reason to be mad at her for ruining his day. When there was no response and only giggles from the inside were heard, Regina pushed the door.

"Damon!" She gasped. Making them both stop what they were doing to turn to the person who had just interrupted their fun.

"Have you no shame? How could you cheat on me and of all people, your secretary?!" Regina was suddenly in tears and that was just how emotional she could be.

-- I mean, who wouldn't be in tears when you wanted to surprise your loved one but got surprised instead?--

"I'm glad you are home. Over there, please take a look at the document and have it signed." Damon muttered, still clinging onto the woman next to him who was just smiling and seemed to be enjoying the look on the other woman's face.

Regina took a walk to the direction he had pointed at and picked up a file, opening up the printed paper instead... She almost lost balance but managed to hold herself back.

"A DIVORCE PAPER?"

"C'mon. Don't try to make things hard, All you have to do is just put your signature and this is over. You're free , I am free ! We could be with who we want."

Regina couldn't believe how shameless Damon could be to say such trashy words. "You cheated on me, to get a divorce?"

"Mmh." Damon nodded.

"Come on outside now Damon. Please let's talk about this, fine I'll pretend I didn't see what happened today okay? Let's talk this out! You can't just divorce me."

"I can and I will. We have nothing to talk about, I'm here with someone and I can't go to you. Okay! You should thank Charlotte." Damon stopped to give the woman next to him a kiss. "She was generous enough to help pack your bags. Let's meet again in the courtroom. I'll also be kind enough to give you half of my property if that's what you want."

"Damon!" Regina called one more time before dashing out of the room , unsure of what to think and what to believe. She walked into her room and as Damon had stated, her bags had been packed.

Regina fell to the floor. How could he be so cruel to her? What exactly had she done wrong?

How could he surprise her like this!?

They've been together for two years and over the years, Regina was aware that Damon had no interest in her. Their marriage had been a deal made but she had genuinely loved Damon. Despite him being cruel to her, she had stayed and hoped that one day he would see her for who she was and finally love her back!

Could she have been a fool to think Damon was going to change? Had she been so obsessed with him that she couldn't even tell who he was!?

A divorce paper? Uff.

"Regina...." She heard someone called out from the outside. She left the floor where she had sat and opened the door to meet Charlotte standing there with a huge smile plastered on her face. Seeing her wearing her husband's shirt angered Regina more than anything but she dared do nothing or Damon wouldn't hesitate to punch her.

"What do you want?"

"Don't be rude. Damon said you would explore but I couldn't help but come over to see for myself."

Regina didn't say anything and Charlotte continued. "You were aware Damon never loved you, perhaps you were the one so cheap to think you could buy love by marrying him?" She laughed.

"Damon loves me!" Regina tried to back herself up but Charlotte cut her short.

"Don't push it honey... Damon loves me and he's disgusted by you. We both know he's with you because you forced the marriage. How stupid are you? Well, glad he's finally ready to divorce you. I'll look forward to seeing how you will survive outside here." With a smirk, she walked away.

Regina felt like a knife had just been stabbed her with! How could people be so cruel? She had given this marriage everything she had and everything she could. The days, weeks, months and years! How could he be so cold hearted to throw them away? Worst of all, allow his sidekick to disrespect her in her own home?

She returned to her room and picked up the divorce paper one more. Grabbing a pen , she walked out of her room and only stopped when she was standing in front of Damon again.

"You want a divorce? Very well then..... I'll sign it." Opening the paper again, Regina left her signature at her end and proceeded to throw the papers at him.

"I don't care about your property. Our marriage comes to an end today and I hope you found love with ... Her!"

Without a second thought, She walked out on them, shocking Damon who had thought she would never sign the papers. Next, Regina came downstairs with her luggages.

"I got you a birthday gift by the way, but you don't deserve it." She grabbed the flower and the card.

That day, Regina Campbell was no longer married to Damon Salvatore, a man she had loved so much all along. That day, she made a promise to herself never to love a man again whomever it might be ------ She was going to be strong from here on.

"I didn't exactly want to get divorced. I didn't exactly not want to..But then, my marriage had become like the trail in that moment where I realized there was a bull in both directions. I simply made a leap of faith and pushed on to the direction I had never been."

Regina Campbell turned off the television. Her now ex-husband had actually made an official announcement that he was no longer married to her. Regina didn't see this as a problem, but what she'd seen as a problem was the fact that he was trying to play victim.

She scoff. "Piece of Shit."

It's been one week and during the days, she had stayed in a hotel room with the hope of leaving the city very soon. She was tired of crying and had given up, getting divorced was something she had never looked forward to... Everything had happened so quickly, breaking her in a worst possible way.

Regina had noticed how dull and tired she had become over the past few days. She didn't want to believe she was pregnant, perhaps she's just stressed out with everything that had happened. But to be on a safe side, she had bought a pregnancy test strips. For the past two hours, she had done nothing but stare at it over and over again. Afraid of what the results might be.

"Let's get this over with. I need to get ready for my flight." Regina breathed down.

There was silence as Regina walked around the room until her alarm set off that it was 5 mins. She rushed into the bathroom and took the pregnancy strips up.

"Positive." It clearly show. Regina didn't know exactly what her reaction was supposed to be at this moment. Over the past two years she had tried getting pregnant for her ex husband, Damon Salvatore but to no avail. It had to come a moment where she was accused of being infertile. Regina had given up all hopes of getting pregnant, but why does this had to happen at a time like this?

Of all the days and months! It had to be as soon as she divorced Damon. Regina was scared, it was her first time and something she wasn't prepared for. She had no relative to run to for help and word of encouragement.

Regina was left between thinking of loosing the baby was the best choice, or keeping the baby would be.

Seconds turned to Minutes and soon it was an hour and Regina had barely noticed. Perhaps her getting pregnant is for her to have a solid reason to live? No way Regina was going to go back to Damon to announce to him that she was carrying his baby.

She was done with him. She was tired of her being the only one doing the loving! She was tired of giving it her all and getting nothing in return. Regina couldn't imagine what her child's life would be like if it was to grow up around someone like Damon.

Maybe he would love his child?

Or maybe he would hate his child the same way he had hated her , Regina.

She didn't want to find out. All she ever wanted to do was clear memories of Damon and try to heal. Right there, Regina concluded that she was going to keep her baby... All her love, she would give to her baby and she'll make sure she doesn't have to go through what she was passing through.

One thing was sure, No Man could ever come into her life again. A vow and a promise she made to herself. She was going to take care of her baby , although she was aware of the challenges as a single mother... Regina was sure she could put through.

Standing up, She took a look at herself in the mirror. How miserable she looked! She sighed and tried to force a smile which only made her look more ridiculous. Finally she looked away, it was time to pick her life up again and to be able to do that, She needed to leave the City.
