Chapter Twenty-Three.

Sorah’s POV.

I gasp dramatically with my tremoring fingers just before my agape mouth as my eyes splay wide from shock.

It happens so quickly.

Just before the tips of the Vampire’s fangs can break through my skin, Mortiz is onto him in a flash.

She shoves him away so aggressively to plant a defensive guard before me to keep him from coming close. With fright funneling through my body, I watch through shaky eyes as the Vampire grunts and glowers grimly at her.

“I won’t miss my aim again” Mortiz warns coldly, her voice stern and letting me know once more just how capable a Demon she is.

I know if she strikes him again, it’ll be over.

The Vampire holds his reproach while gripping the left side of his chest that’s bleeding into the lime-green cardigan he wears. The sight of blood dying into the bright fabric doesn’t sit well with me and I start to fidget with anxiety.

He moves his blood-red lips rustily to imitate a wry smirk as he rattles hoarsely, “I guess I underestimated
