Chapter Thirty-one
He sat cross legged beside me and my hand shot out to his as I pulled him towards me, “No, we just had a fight last night, they have to rest.” Hayden let out another chuckle as his hand came over my head to capture the stray strands and place them back behind my ear. “They are werewolves, Maddy. They should have healed in half an hour, except the ones that were seriously injured which weren’t many.” Now when I heard it, it did make sense. I was stupidly applying the rules of human body to that of werewolves. Propping myself on my elbows, I asked, “What if I don’t want to train? I am not a werewolf, so I don’t heal like you guys do.” I said with puppy eyes. I knew I was teasing him but he had started first. So, I was just keeping up with him. Hayden mulled over the fact and then he bent to whisper something in my ears that made me feel wetness pooling in my core and my heart threatening to jump out of my mouth. “If you show up t

Hayden   “Steve, please step forward” I suddenly ordered and he was startled to hear his name. He looked around as if to check if I had called to anyone else but I simply smiled at him and motioned him to come forward. His smile vanished from his face as he came forward to stand beside me. “Steve here is a senior amongst all of you and he has fought with us last night, I believe, right, Steve?” He stuttered a little at the question but answered, “Y-yes, I did” “Very well, could you please demonstrate how you fought the rogue?” His eyes went wide at that and he tried to add with a hesitant smile, “I…I just…you know…grabbed him by the leg and threw him to the ground when he had approached me.” My eyes were glued to his and I continued with the same smile, “Perhaps I didn’t make myself clear, I asked you to demonstrate it. You could show how you did that to the others. How about considering me as the rogue you

Chapter Thirty-three
Hayden The training was done for the day and most of the new cadets were now sitting on the benches, talking to each other. I gave a nod to Charlie and walked into my office.I shut the door more hardly than necessary and walked towards my table. The files were neatly stacked and I opened one of them to start working. It was almost lunch time but I told Raine that I wasn’t hungry. The fact was I was angry and I didn’t want to take it out in front of all of them. Thus, I decided to shut myself in the office and calm down.Steve had already made me annoyed and the fact that Madeleine had been casually baking instead of training hard with the others added more fuel to the fire.Shaking my head, I tried forcing myself to work and began reading through the files. That is when I received a call on my mobile. It was alpha Kyle. I felt strange that he had called me.Curious, I received the phone and spok

Hayden   I had snapped at her and she had left the office crying. Goddess, now I felt even more annoyed. I just took the file I had been studying and threw it to the floor in frustration. The box she had brought in was still lying in front of me.  Luke spoke in my head, “You should have just asked her to show up early tomorrow…” I rolled my eyes at him and he knew that it was his turn to shut up. I let the box sit in front of me and resumed work. Half of my mind was inclined to run after her and apologize to her but I needed her to know that I had set certain rules and they applied to everyone. Just because I had kissed her didn’t mean that she was above the rules. It was a miracle that Steve hadn’t pointed out that she wasn’t around in the training camp. But, I felt that he was simply too busy ogling at the other girls to notice her absence. Thus, I resumed work and began reading through the file. I f

Hayden I knocked on the door once, twice, and then let it go. I could hear the sobs from inside but I couldn’t really barge in with the others watching. Hence, I simply returned to my room and decided to sleep. It had been a tiring day and I had spent hours seated in my chair and my nose dug in those files. The thought of Madeleine being angry and crying was beginning to eat at me.‘But she had missed training. And, I had not even punished her for what she had done.’The rational part of my brain tried to come up with my defense. However, Luke promptly added, “And you decided to give the cookies away to someone else.”When Luke said this I finally realized what she must have felt. She had, after all, made those for me and brought them for me to taste.Goddess, I had been rude to her for the entire day on the first day of the training. At this rate, she would just run away from my terr

Chapter Thirty-Six
Madeleine   Panting, I neared him and collapsed on the ground and he bent down on his knees. Extending a bottle, he said to me, “Drink this, and don’t be late tomorrow.” Saying so, he placed the bottle on the ground and got up. I was just lying there and turned around to take deep breaths. My eyes searched for him to extend his hand and give it to me, but he had already turned his back at me. Furious, I dusted my hands and got up in a sitting position. Then, I pulled the bottle towards me and drank all of the water in one go before splattering the rest of it on my face. No sooner had I done that, I coughed as I accidentally sucked in some of it through my nose. Placing my hands on the ground, I coughed and that is when I felt a hand around me. I smiled to think that he had finally come around but to my surprise a familiar voice greeted me. “Hey, let me help you” Two firm hands went around my

Hayden   My eyes then automatically flicked to Madeleine. She wasn’t strikingly beautiful or some maiden that I had never ever set my eyes on. But, she was gorgeous in her own way. That innocent face and those beady eyes with which she looked at me tugged at my heart like not even the sexiest girl managed to do. Blinking my eyes, I decided to do something. I needed a distraction from her. And that distraction was almost crying with a sprained ankle. Thus, I called Madeleine and decided to use her as a dummy. Madeleine was shocked to hear me call her name but came forward nonetheless. “Let your body loose and I will show the attendees how to throw an opponent down to the ground with a surprise move” She barely had the time to nod her head when I slinked my arms around her waist. Her top was clinging to her skin due to the cold sweat that had drenched her.  Only when she neared me did I see her curves.

Madeleine It was just one line but I immediately recalled my discussion with Garron back in my small wooden cabin. He had asked me to spy for Hayden and obviously, Steve knew about it. Maybe that was why he was keeping away from me.I had completely forgotten about the deal, all my thoughts had been focused on Greta and Hayden. I sat on my bed for a long time, thinking about what to do next.  BenI had rushed to patrol duty after seeing that my alpha was disturbed about something. He was being uneasy and frustrated but I didn’t know what or why.As usual, I turned to Charlie to speak my mind.“Hey beta, do you think that our alpha is upset about something?”Charlie had been surveying the perimeter and he countered with another question, “Upset about what?”I shrugged my shoulders, “Anything…I don’t know man he feels off lately.”

Chapter Thirty-nine
Hayden   Madeleine was just standing there, staring at me with wide eyes. I folded my hands and looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Tears trickled down her face as she answered with a stammer, “I…I was just passing by…” Walking near her, I held her hands in mine and took the paper from her hand. It was about the treaty I had been working on. “What is this, Madeleine?” She sobbed and answered, “I…Garron asked me to spy on you…” She blurted out and my eyes went wide to hear that.  “And you were here to do that? Spy on me?” My voice shook a little to hear her. I couldn’t believe that she would actually go ahead and do that. Madeleine sobbed uncontrollably and answered, “No, I wasn’t. Trust me.” She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and continued, “I…I received a note from him through Steve. And, and…he is watching us right now from the window. He is keeping eye on me if I am doing

Madeleine   “Trusting you is my decision, betraying me yours.” Hayden just said that and left me in the very office in which I was accused of stealing. He just left me in that office with the papers sprawled on the table and the door ajar. He had left me to freely check through whatever I wanted.  Despite finding me with evidence and catching me red-handed, he had simply left me to do what I pleased. If his words had felt like a tight slap, his action had punched me in the gut. I could only look at his retreating figure as he walked away from me with his shoulders drooped and climbed up the stairs. I stood by the doorframe looking at me, willing him to turn around and look at me just once, but he did not. He simply walked inside and turned off the lights of his room. For a long time, I stood there with tears freely flowing down my cheeks, as they soaked my shirt, after splattering on it. With a
