Spencer is released from the hospital after two days, with Amory taking it upon herself to play the part of a devoted wife and cater to his nonsense as he recovers. I take advantage of the situation too, since Spencer is confined to the couch in the living room at night, I climb into bed with Amory! Amory uses the time we are stuck upstate to actually get shit done. Amazing what she accomplished in two weeks! First, she actually gets Spencer to agree to her contract terms. Then she gets a health plan for his employees and gets everyone enrolled. From there, she moves on to getting all of the residents of the apartment complex on leases. She hires a landscaper to maintain the housing complex and two houses, interviews mechanics, and staffing for the laundromat. Amory even manages to get all of the documentation recorded for Motor Hart’s and Custom Hart’s, as well as the apartment complex. She goes through each document of every box one by one. I wake up when what feels like a warm tongue is licking from my neck to my lips, and ends with a soft peck. I open my eyes as I release a moan, Amory is trying to stifle her laughter. I pull her down on top of me but she brings her finger to her lips urging me to be quiet. I finally look around the room to see we are still in the lake house living room with everyone asleep around us. Amory climbs off of me and pulls me to follow her off the sofa. This morning I hear Amory vomiting from her bathroom since her bedroom door has been left open. She’s due to appear in court today and her anxiety is simply sweltering over. Amory’s period is a day late and the funny shit is she doesn’t even notice, and if she does she’s keeping it to herself. However, she does emphasize to me how tired she feels, so on Friday night when she wants to go down to the club I’m surprised. I know better than to tell her no though, but I do convince her to wear shoes with a smaller heel. Melanie sits with Stephany like she used to, while Amory and I head down to the club and right on to the dance floor. I wake up in the bed of my Brooklyn apartment wrapped in Jonny’s arms, and if we weren’t both completely naked I’d almost be inclined to believe that the last few months of my life were just some really bad dream. I called Spin last night and plead with him for space, and after promising to return to the lake house by Saturday he reluctantly agreed. I feel sick, although I don’t admit this to Jonny. Instead, I emphasize that my feet hurt, my back hurts, my boobs hurt, my butt even hurts, and I’m just tired beyond exhaustion. He does what he can to comfort me, but I know the stress of my situation is starting to become daunting to all of us involved.
