Chapter 21
Savannah P.O.V I don’t know what I witnessed when I arrived at school today. I saw a huge crowd surrounding Chase and Candace and I wanted no part of it, so I kept walking forward. But when I was looking at what was going on Chase turned around and looked at me and I couldn’t read his face, but Jen I could she wanted to cut a bitch I know that face. The face Jen pulled is the same face my friend from home pulled when Ocean was fighting, she had a face that meant do not mess with me. Ocean used to do karate but stopped due to an injury and now she’s too protective of her injury she quit. But anyway, back to Jen I know never mess with a woman when she’s got that face on maybe later, I’ll ask her what happened and if there is anything I can do to help. Walking into the school I head straight for my locker, and I will make sure this time that I won’t bump into anybody. With succession, I did just that I reached my locker without any disruptions. Opening my locker so I can put things

Chapter 22
Walking into the class with Jen and Selena I see Chase is sat at one of the tables in the middle of the classroom. I smile in his direction and his face is unreadable I don’t like not being able to read his face and he just head nods at me. The smile drops from my face as quickly as it was on it feels like he’s now being distant with me because of what happened last night between us and this morning between him and Candace. Not thinking much of his action, I take a seat close to Jen and Selena taking out my notebook and my philosophy book. The girls were not kidding when they said how hard Mr. Waterston is for an older gentleman, he can be quite scary. With short grey hair, he does remind me of my grandpa, but Mr. Waterston is much better dressed. The lesson is about the differences between free will and fate. I thought they were connected, and Mr. Waterston proved me wrong. If something was meant to be its fate but if we choose and it’s not that is free will. I had no idea philos

When the song finishes everyone claps at both me and Josephine. I must say this girl knows how to edit music that sounded amazing she could be one hell of a music producer if that’s her passion in life. During the remainder of the class, everyone one by one was discussing their notes aloud and I made notes on what they were saying about my singing. Even if it’s good or bad I aim to improve every time and I appreciate the critiques. “Thank you, everyone, now” the bell rings “That is the end of today’s class I would like to say a big thank you to Josephine for working on the deck during this class and Savannah thank you for sharing your voice that song was beautifully sung.” “Thank you, Mrs. Penny it was a pleasure, to sing today, and may I ask before I go could I get a copy of that demo please?” “Certainly, come back at the end of the day and I’ll have it ready for you.” I nod my head and make my way to my next class. But there is something on my mind as I left the recording stud

Chapter 24
The school day could not finish quickly enough today. I had three more encounters with Candace warning me to stay away from what is hers. That just pisses me off when someone is claiming another person to be their property. Luckily, Jen, Selena, and Greg were there by my side to tell her to back the fuck off. Since Marine Biology, Greg has quickly become a good friend of mine and I have promised him that I will get him and Jen alone so he can tell her how he truly feels one day. As I reach my car to go home as I have a huge report to write up for Marine Biology, Jen approaches me. “Hey, Sav could I grab a lift home as Chase bailed out of school sometime today and we carpooled, and I’ve got no way to get home.” Why would he do that to his sister? Why would he leave her stranded at school? “Sure, climb on in but I won’t be taking you home we’re going to find him as I want to have a word with him because of his behavior today not just to me but to you as well.” Oh yeah, Mama Bear

I start to walk away from him and go back to my car I can’t be here anymore, but Chase starts to follow me. “Savannah please wait!” I turn around and look at him so he can see what he has done to me. “No Chase just stop I never want to speak to you again. The only time when I speak to you is if I’m being polite or if it’s for our dads otherwise, I don’t want to hear it.” I run all the way to my car I jump in, wipe the tears off my cheeks, pull out of the parking lot, and drive off home with not a care in the world. Pulling into my driveway I come to a screeching halt, throwing myself out of my car not locking it behind me, I charge straight upstairs and into my room slamming the door behind me and collapse on my bed and sob into my pillow. I stayed in my room for what felt like hours to only get disturbed by a gentle knock on my door I sit up and dry my tears from my face “Yeah.” My bedroom door slowly creaks open and Dad’s head pops in “Sweetpea is everything okay? Did somet

“Savannah sweetheart this is Toni our housekeeper, Toni this is my beautiful daughter Savannah.” “It’s a pleasure to meet you Savannah I have heard nothing but amazing things about you.” “Nice to meet you too Toni, you must show me how to make this one day it smells amazing.” Toni smiles at me bowing her head slightly and she takes her leave. After dinner I insisted on clearing the table and loading the dishwasher. Yes, even though we have Toni who can do that for us, I just don’t feel comfortable that Toni is doing everything. I like to feel useful around the house and this is my way of being useful. Collecting mine and Dad’s now empty plates after such a burst of flavor in those quesadillas, I take them to the sink and give them a quick rinse down before I put them in the dishwasher and I do the same routine, with the cutlery and glassware. It didn’t take me long to clean up after dinner. Dishwasher filled and running, placemats put away in a drawer and table wiped down it o

Chapter 27
Sometimes just like today, I wish the weekend was longer. It flew by in a blink of an eye. I kept to my word by keeping myself busy with unpacking and losing myself in my music. I can say that now I am all moved in and everything in my room is unboxed I feel a lot more settled into my new home. I moved a few things around with Dad’s help and readjusted some little things, but I am now happy with the layout of the room I can call mine until I start college. Speaking of college my dad and I sat down together most of Saturday afternoon to early evening looking through colleges with the best music programs. Together we found two great schools and there’s something ironic about doing my research. I am now left with a choice the same as my dad made. Go back home to North Carolina to attend Wake Forrest University or stay here in California and attend Berkeley University. I spoke with Dad and we both agreed to speak to the school’s college advisor as well as my teachers and see what they

Outside by our cars, I told the girls what I got told today and they were ecstatic for me. I told them everything that was said and what I need to do to make sure I have a chance for the scholarship. Jen said, “Don’t worry about the recommendation as you know my dad would be more than happy to give you a glowing letter of recommendation after when he heard you play for my mom before Chase joined in and made it something else.” “Jen, did you just say your brother plays guitar? Oh, my god I know I shouldn’t be saying this to you but hearing that has just made him ten times hotter.” Jen gagged at Selena’s comment, and I laughed because I thought and repeated when he put the guitar over his shoulder and started playing the song with me. Even though I want to forget about him I just can’t seem to. I refuse to stop being friends with Jen because of him, she has done nothing wrong toward me. She has been the loyal friend everyone wants to have in their lives. And the same goes for Sele

Dad’s face lit up like it was the fourth of July, it’s the same face he gave me when he told me about his promotion, and he wraps me in his arms and hugs me. “Oh, my baby girl I am so proud of you that is fantastic news we must celebrate tonight, after dinner, we are going out for ice cream I don’t care if you’re too old for it now I want to celebrate your success.” “Thanks, Dad I like the sound of that, and I know just the place too it’s this little ice cream parlor I saw down on the pier at the beach they have a sundae called the brownie exploder.” “That sounds like an ice cream I could enjoy too.” He smiles at me and squeezes me as I’m still wrapped up in his arms. I turn and look over Dad’s shoulder. “Toni you’re more than welcome to join us if you would like.” Dinner was delicious, one of the best pasta dishes I’ve eaten in years. Once it was all cleaned up and dishes and cutlery put away in the dishwasher it was time to go for our celebratory dessert. Toni declined o

Chase P.O.V All I want is just a moment of her time. I just want to explain everything. My actions for last Friday, having Candace round my house when I knew Savannah was there and mostly just to apologize. That’s why I’ve had a quick little word with my friend Lucas to make Savannah’s brownie exploder her ultimate favorite. Instead of it being chocolate and vanilla ice cream. I asked Lucas if he could just do the one flavor of mint chocolate chip and with extra brownie pieces. I will pay the extra no problem if it gives me just a moment of her time. “Thanks, man,” I hand Lucas a twenty-dollar bill as Lucas says he won’t charge me extra this time just I have to promise him I will assist him with something when he asks me as Mr. Blakemore hands Savannah her ice cream. He takes the money and pays and hands me over my change. “No problem, man see ya in school tomorrow.” I tap the counter with my knuckles “Morning workouts as usual see ya then.” I turn around to see Mr. Blakemore
