Chap 5: being annoyed

Dahlia's POV

I opened my mouth, prompted the butler to sit up straight and began to carefully count my crimes.

“First, you shouldn't argue with the lady.”

“Second, the young master has been busy working abroad. You should not bother the young master with small matters, and interfere with his work.”

I raised my eyebrows, did he mean I go to report these things to Gideon? I continued to be patient, took a deep breath and smiled:

"What else? Please continue!”

Butler Silas felt proud of being able to admonish me.

“There's still a little bit left, you shouldn't be jealous. Miss Ermintrude is the daughter of the lady's friend, and the younger sister of the young master's best friend, so it was natural for her to move into the Evans house. You shouldn't be jealous.”

I know my eyes are full of anger right now, but my mouth still holds a smile instead of being angry like before. I really want to ask, were the years I spent at the Evans house all in vain? I'm known as Gideon's fiancee, taking good care of the house, but do I have to accept another woman coming into the house to steal the person I love?

Butler Silas stood up, looking arrogant: "I hope you can understand, things that have been done incorrectly must be promptly rectified."

I started to feel a bit regretful, regretting why I had the free time to sit and listen to him insult me.

"Wait a moment."

The butler stopped walking: "If you want to apologize, go and apologize to the lady and Miss Ermintrude."

I laugh. In the past, every time a conflict arose, I was the one who had to apologize to Mrs. Evans and Feya. Does my humility make them think I'm weak?

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, then took out my phone and pressed the familiar number. I know that as long as I leave the house, Gideon will always keep his phone on him. So when he picked up the phone, I could still hear the meeting going on on the other side.

I shouted, my eyes starting to turn red: "Gideon Evans, lock up your guard dog, don't let it go out to bark."

The butler gasped, not thinking that I would dare to call Gideon directly, or even shout directly into the phone like that.

"What…"

Without waiting for Gideon to respond, I hung up directly, then coldly looked at the butler: "What? Is the air conditioner not blowing enough? Or do you want me to personally see you out?”

The butler looked at me for a moment then quickly ran out. I covered my face and sighed tiredly. Esther walked next to me and set down a glass of warm water.

“How have you been living at the Evans house these past few years? Let them trample you like that? Even a servant dares to bully you?

Hearing this sentence, I couldn't hold back my tears. Have I let myself be that disadvantaged?

Esther gently hugged me: "Why have you never told me these things?"

In the eyes of outsiders, I embrace the title of Mr. CEO Gideon Evans’s fiancee. So if I wake up in the middle of the night, I will smile brightly. But few people understand how I endured such humiliation behind that door.

“Do I have time to turn around now?” I asked my best friend in dismay.

“Of course on time! Let's forget about that bastard.” Esther hugged me tightly, roaring loudly.

Thanks to this incident, people from the Evans family did not come to bother me anymore. Thinking back, it's understandable, since their house is so big, there's no shortage of flatterers around. They despised me before, but still deliberately surrounded Gideon. Now that I’ve gone, they won't even look at me.

“Hey, if you had been clear a long time ago, things wouldn't be this chaotic.”

Hearing Esther's words, I frowned: "What do you mean?"

Esther took out her phone and opened the social networking site: “Look. Outside, people say you're out of shape at all."

My eyes shifted from the computer screen to Esther's phone. Indeed, my story is being discussed there very passionately.

~Inside news: Dahlia Green was actually kicked out by the Evans family!~

~Is she pretending to leave home again? Then she dragged herself home. She's used this trick too many times. There's nothing rare.~

~She's causing too much trouble at the Evans house, making enemies with Lady Ermintrude. It's very embarrassing.~

~I heard that Mr. Evans had to return home, just as Dahlia rioted. Wise people will understand the reason behind.~

~What other reason could it be for? Forced marriage to be exact.~

If it were before, I would be extremely angry. But now my mood is strangely calm. I moved my eyes and continued to color the picture. Esther, next to me, had been cursing all along, daring to say as many harsh words as she could.

“I'm not angry yet. What are you angry about?” I laughed, directly blocking her rudeness.

“Are you…really planning to force marriage on Mr. Evans?” Esther asked worriedly.

“What do you think?” I chose a different color scheme for the painting and casually asked again.

“It's not like this isn't possible.” She scratched her head, feeling that this was easier to come true than me leaving Gideon.

A moment later, Esther wanted to help me calm down my anger and take revenge on Gideon by choosing some tall, handsome men for me. I laughed out loud and started telling her what happened back then at university.

I have also been pursued by many people. At that time, I was just a poor little duck, not ugly. After Gideon found out about this, my suitors started to dwindle. Only one person persevered, but in the end, his three ribs were broken.

“You don't need to find trouble for yourself. The fact that I scolded his housekeeper probably made him extremely disgusted with me." I sincerely advise Esther.

Waiting for Esther to return to her seat, I took a glass of warm water and slowly remembered the days when I first started following Gideon. During the years when he first took over the Evans family business, he was often teased by shareholders and enemies to the point that he could no longer contain his mild temper. Every time he proposed a plan, they rejected it.

When Gideon was young, he had an extremely hot temper and could often talk with his fists. Only I dared to approach him, pour him a cup of tea, gently rub his forehead and advise. Since then, he no longer gets angry at shareholder meetings at the company.

I spent a lot of time probing Gideon's personality, helping him calm down. The older he gets, the stronger his abilities become and the easier it is to control his temper. Therefore, no one remembers a girl like me helping them keep the demon inside Gideon's heart.

On the day Gideon negotiated in France, the other side's group made things difficult for him. A person like me who is not fluent in foreign languages ran all over France and still found him. And the failed signing sessions, if I hadn't promptly stopped his anger and advised him to be patient, would the Evans business have been able to revive?

I went home by subway. The time was already nine o'clock in the evening. Before I even got up the stairs, a scream was heard behind me.

“Miss Green.”
