Chapter forty-eight

Caleb’s POV

I couldn't go back on my word now.

Ethan came at me with the blade, but I raised my cuffed wrists at him.

"You'll have to take this off."

He thinks about it for a second before he grudgingly nods at the man to take it off from me. He removes a key from the strap on his waistband and comes towards me. I hold still while he unlocks mine and for a second, I want to ask they also remove Daniel's but then I have to make them trust us enough to let us roam around unarmed.

The cuffs fall from my wrists to the floor, and I take a step forward, bringing out my palm so Ethan can place the hilt in it. He eyes me warily before carefully dropping it, probably waiting for me to flip.

"Do you have a cup or bowl or something?" I asked him, the sharp edge of the blade hovering over my palm.

With a flick of Ethan's hand, the man goes deeper into the office, probably a secret compartment that we can't see, and brings out a clear crystal bowl. He placed it on the desk, and I walked over
