Chapter forty-three

Caleb’s POV

The beeping sound woke me up.

The constant machine beeping.

Daniel's face was the first thing I saw when I came to, and the concerned look on his face made me worried.

Instantly, I tried to sit up, but he forced me back down. "Calm the fuck down, man."

I relaxed simply because it was way too hard to even fight against him. I relaxed back on the bed, turning my head to the side, I noted that it was late afternoon.

I tried to speak but my throat was so dry. I turned back to face Daniel intent on asking for water but a plastic cup with ice chips in them appeared in front of me before I even uttered a word.

I shot him a grateful look and with shaky hands, I struggled to get the cup to my lips.

I crunched them between my teeth, and they immediately melted in between my lips. I drank the water, grateful for the coolness as it washed down my throat.

I tried not to move too much as everything hurt even before I lifted it. Most especially my knee which throbbed like crazy.
