Chapter forty

Caleb’s POV

I pretended not to be afraid, but fear was flowing through my veins. Daniel kept his cool, but I knew that he wasn't ready yet for another face-off with battle. I mean he was just recovering from the poison in his bloodstream, so his apprehension is understandable.

I turned to address some of my guards, my betas, and the Enforcers that surrounded me when I saw her.

I grabbed her elbow in anger and dragged her to the corner of a room. "Why are you following us?" I hissed under my breath.

She pasted a clueless expression on her face, but I wasn't buying it at all. She knew what she was doing. "Nothing. I just wanted to tag along."

I scrub a hand over my face. "Well, you can't and I'm serious."

A look of dismay crosses her eyes. "But why? I just want to help."

You can help from here…I just got you back, no way am I putting you in harm's way.

I have a right to make my own decisions, and I want to help."
