Chapter thirty-six

Katherine’s POV

I rushed over to meet Caleb halfway despite the blood running down his body, and he welcomed me with a one-armed hug.

I started fumbling over his body, checking for wounds, cuts, and scrapes on his body. He looked at me weirdly but allowed me to search to my heart's content until I found out that most of the blood was not his.

I knew I was angry at him, but I didn't want him to die…. not yet anyways.

When people started to crowd the front of the house, he subtly pushed me behind him, taking a step forward as the leader he was.

They were staring at the lady whose neck was awkwardly twisted to one side.
