Chapter thirty-two

Katherine’s POV

I don't know how much I drank until I became detached, emotionally and physically. That was why when Caleb came running upstairs to look for me, I wasn't bothered or feeling anything.

I saw them park out front but no sign of Daniel anywhere. I hope that means he was okay.

I didn't go back downstairs to either check on the men or Freya.

I just... didn't find it in me to care about any shit.

I thought briefly about hiding out in another room to buy a couple more hours of silence but I dismissed the idea instantly.

A part of me was boiling for a fight.

"Katherine!" Caleb calls out distantly and mere seconds later, he bursts through the door. He sees me sitting beside the window and the second half-empty bottle of liquor dangling from my hand and approaches me warily. "I've been looking for you."

I could make out his figure from the corner of my eye, but I didn't turn to give him attention or even grace him with a reply.

I just wanted him to leave me alone.

"Katherine..?"
