CHAPTER 42

Kyle King

Tell him something that is feasible and productive. He's the only chance you have right now. Hewas probably was probably observing me, trying to capture what I was thinking up in my head. I arranged my words in sequence, starting  with a bullet point and ending with a  plea.

I cleared my throat, holding his gaze.. `There's a major business deal that my team is working on with a new company. We will be in charge of their branch building  construction and furnishings. If the deal comes  through, all profits will be paid into your account. It's probably about ten million dollars, Uncle.` 

`So, the repayment is based on probability. Alright, let me ask you this: HowHow do you intend to pay your team if I take all the profits?`

I sighed. Another loophole II forgot to fill. Owe them till another deal comes in? 

`I will create a payment plan for their salaries, sir. They`re my team,team, and they understand what we have been facing for the last few months.`

He chuckled, `You won't be in this mess if you hadn't squandered Robert`s investments. You know II had eyes for their grant,grant, but I pulled out when an insider informed me that  you applied. I had high hopes for you, son. Anyway, II think II have a better proposition for you.`

I quickly sat up, hope rising in me again. I gave  up immediately;immediately; he stated that he applied for the grant and pulled out because of me.

He continued, `The King's Company is known basically for construction, technological designs,designs, and selling excellent project ideas. What if I jump in as an anonymous board executive  and invest in one or two projects, sell them  to my high--end connections,connections, and we share the profits? That way,way, you will be able to pay what you owe and also have some extra money to keep up with the trends.. What do you think?

Seventy-thirty was looking unfair,unfair, but he was investing,investing, and II still owed him. I could negotiate,negotiate, but it was still a fair deal. Mom wouldn't know it was him doing the investments since he would be anonymous. I also had no other choice.

`Alright, Uncle. I agree with your proposition but this stays here, please. I don't want my mommom to know about this. You know you have never been her favourite person, so let's keep it low,` I replied.

He smiled, typing on his phone. `I don`t know what you`re talking about. What deal again?`

I got the message immediately. He had already erased our deal within a few a few seconds. I loved my uncle already. His lawyer came in,in, and we signed documents,documents, which II read twice. Once bitten, twice shy. I had learned my lesson after my ordeal with Tessa and her family. 

He transferred the money after we had signed all the documents and discussed the projects he would be investing in. He asked about Avaline and expressed his opinions about our relationship. He also advised that I that I shouldn't rush the marriage plans until II was certain she was the one for me. He still held his respect for Tessa,Tessa, even though he had met her once.

He promised to visit the company once he returned from a business trip in the Seychelles. the Seychelles. I appreciated him,him,and I and I left feeling better than before. The Roberts case was finally was finally settled. I felt the urge to call Xavier but decided against it. He wanted nothing to do with the case, so there was no need to tell him I had cleared it. 

Besides, if I inform him about the proposition, he will be upset that I didn`t consult him before agreeing to it. I wasn't ready for his usual annoying advice and remarks. I changed my mind immediately about spending the night at his place and ordered the driver to take me home. I missed Ava anyway.

There were vehicles around the house when the chauffeur drove in. The booming of music welcomed me as I stepped into the house. There were people I hardly knew all over the place. What the heck?

I saw Ava as I pushed through the crowd of people who were dancing. She was oblivious to my appearance until I tapped her. 

`What's going on, Ava? Why are you holding a party in my house without my permission?` I demanded, raising my voice a bit.

She smiled, dropping her glass of wine. `Well, I just helped my dad secure a deal with a sports club and decided to celebrate my win. I am sorry I didn't tell you, but your mom approved it, so I didn't want to bother you.`

Wait, What? She was talking to her dad and securing a deal for him. I couldn`t believe Ava at this point.

I yelled. `I thought you and your dad aren't talking anymore. How come you`re securing a deal for him?`

She yawned, `Dear, after you decided to go behind my back and beg for his help, I decided to reconcile with him and make some cash for myself. Is that wrong? Also, before you go crazy, here's my contribution for the bills you owe the Roberts.`

I collected the envelope. It was a check for fifty thousand dollars. I was surprised. I wasn't expecting her to help out after the fight we had and the silent treatment she started serving me daily. 

`I know it`s little, but it's the best I can do to prevent you from selling the Porsche. Also, since I am your fiancee, I should help out in any way I can.` she smiled.

I replied, picking up my words to avoid another fight. `Thank you, Ava. Your kindness will not be overlooked. Congratulations on your deal, and forgive me for my earlier behaviour. I do not know what I was doing.`

She smiled and said, `Indeed, Kyle. You can join the party; we just started.`

I nodded, still thinking about the money and whether it was a wise decision to collect it from her. Uncle David had already helped out, and before stepping down from the car, I had sent all the money to Attorney Smith to settle the Roberts. On the other hand, I still needed money to settle those stubborn employees who wanted to leave. I could use this to pay the important ones and strike a new employment contract.

I took her hands and joined the party. Kyle King was back.
