Chapter 9 She's not a complete witch

I stared at Lilly's door for minutes without moving. Today was a Saturday, and would be the best time for me to get to know Mia like Alexander suggested.

But... What the hell am I going to say to the girl? Alexander was out... Went to work on a Saturday, a sign of a typical work addict, so Lilly was in her room all by herself.

Ok, I'm doing this.

I stretched my hands and opened the door ever so slightly.

Lilly was seated on the floor, concentrating on something so intensely.

" What are you doing?" I peeped into Lilly's room from the slightly ajar door.

The little witch looked up at me from her position, before she looked away.

" What are you doing here? I didn't call for you"

Yeah you didn't.

Alright Mia, you're already here, so let's do this.

I opened the door completely and walked into the room.

" I just thought, you know... to check up on you, see how you're doing ".

Mia shrugged her shoulders before continuing what she was doing.

Walking closer to her, I looked down at what she was doing.

She was coloring. On a huge coloring book.

A smile came to my lips and I saw how Lilly was holding her crayon and coloring it.

Though it was a little rough, it was still good to look at.

" You're really good at coloring". I commented coming to sit next to Mia on the floor.

" Everybody's good at coloring". She said without removing her eyes from the book.

" But you're better".

She looked up at me, I could see a small smile dancing on her lips.

" Well...maybe, I am a bit good at it ". She flattered herself before looking back at her drawing.

Drawing. How much I miss drawing, painting...

It was the one thing I was good at... The only thing I was good at, but now, I doubt if I can go back to it again.

" Mia... " I heard Lilly call.

" Eh..."

" I just discovered that I don't really know much about you. " She said dropping her crayon and book.

" What's there to know about your nanny? "

" I don't know... Everything? She could be a hired killer for I know or someone who wants to steal all my father's money". Lilly shrugged.

Really...

I laughed loudly.

This girl really is something.

" Hired killer? Steal your father's money? Let me tell you that even if I try, I doubt I'll be able to steal all your father's money... He's just too rich". I said making Lilly giggle.

She is kind of sweet...

No, no... You cannot allow yourself to fall for her childish charm, Mia she's still a little witch.

The laugher died down and Lilly looked at me seriously.

" Seriously though... "

"Ok, what's there to say... Er ... I was an artist..."

"Do you sing?" She asked immediately.

Sing? Seriously is that what comes to people mind when they hear artist?

" No, I do not".

I can sing, but I don't do it as a career only for fun.

" Do you dance then?"

My brows furrowed in annoyance.

"No".

I've never danced in my entire life... At least not reasonably.

"Well the were you an actress?"

What the... Acting?

"I paint... I paint ".

" Oh you meant you were an artist. "

What's the freaking difference.

And it's not 'were' I still am an artist, in my head and mind and heart.

"Yeah... What you said". Guess theirs another way of pronouncing artist now.

She daddled her hands around her book , tracing invisible lines on it.

" Were you good?"

Good? good!

"I was the best at it, at least among the others I trained with".

" Then why did you stop? "

Why did I stop?

Oh yes, I was kidnapped on my way to get new materials and almost sold to an old man who wanted to use me as a sex toy if not for your father who bought me, and now I'm under his mercy.

Well, I can never say that to a little girl.

" Because I came here".

"Oh...".

"Do you have any siblings?" She asked after few minutes of silence.

" Yes, a sister, an older sister. She's married with a son, he should just be a few years younger than you".

She sighed thoughtfully

" I wish I have a sibling".

" What for? Trust me when I say being an only child is amazing. You won't have to share your parents love with anyone else, you won't have to share your stuff with any one else... It'll just be you and your parents, not interruption". I said diving into dreamland.

If only I was an only child. If I was the first child, my parents would love me more... They wouldn't have even thought of selling me out for money.

" Yikes... I thought you had an older sister, why are you speaking as if you wish to have been born first".

My eyes widened at how fast Lilly was able to guess what I was thinking.

Could she really be a witch?

She rolled her eyes, smiling as I stared at her.

" Your tone said it all. Anyways, let's go". She stood up dusting her clothes even though I couldn't see a speck of dust on it.

I stood up too, copying her.

But wait... Where are we going?

She lead me down the familiar halls of her father's huge Mansion... Like seriously, this house had more rooms that I could count.

I've been here for weeks now but I still don't know all the ends of the house, it was that huge.

I use to imagine living in a house like this, I use to dream of a handsome rich stranger sweeping me off my feet and taking me away from my godforsaken town... But trust me when I say not like this.

Kidnapping and selling was definitely not part of my dreams.

" Here we are". Lilly stopped in front of a huge door and pointed at it.

"Well, open it". She shrugged at me.

I looked at the door and back at Lilly skeptically.

What could she have possibly brought me here for?

She's a kid... If she tries anything, you could take her, right? My mind said to me.

Gulping, I stretched out my hands and slowly opened the door.

My mouth opened in awe when the room was finally in view. My legs unconsciously walked in.

"This is our painting room... Well, my dad's painting room... But since he's not around I guess you can use it. " Lilly shrugged walking in with me.

It was beautiful. Paintings of world famous artists were exsh and every corner of the wall.

It was... It was... There's no word to describe it.

" Why did you bring me here? " I asked lilly still taking in the beauty of the room.

Lilly shrugged.

" You said you loved painting... Our house has a painting room, I wanted you show me what you got".

Really? That's all? I looked skeptical at the little girl.

Maybe she's not a complete witch after all... Maybe
